Its not really a one up.

I don't think many people here care about baseball at all, whatever its heritage.

Just wondered why its called Americas game, when its possibly not American.

I know it's America's past time, but I'm not sure it's necessarily called America's game. Either way, baseball has been taken to another level in the United States in the past century or so, and like you said, you guys don't really care about it anyway.

Right now, however, American football has taken over in the United States as the number one sport. I still prefer baseball over it, but I believe I'm in the minority there.

OK, calmed down now ... *deep sigh* ....

I think the reason people like football is because the regular season is only 16 games long ... you don't have to follow "your boys" night after night like you do in baseball ... I will take the emotional roller coaster of a 162 game season where every night a team con redeem itself over football where you have to dwell on a loss for the entire week ... I still prefer baseball to football, but for wintertime sports, hockey is still the one for me. ~ Dot

I think baseball is referred to as, "America's game" because how popular it is here. I think football is more popular now though.
Personally, I hate baseball and cant sit through a game. My problem is how boring it is. Baseball is just so slow-paced.
I tried to watch a few Milwaukee Brewers games when they were making a run for the wildcart and I couldnt do it.
To be fair though, I have a hard time sitting through a football game or a NASCAR race.

American Football in my very simplistic (yes I am simple :) ) is'nt so dissimilar from golf in the fact you get a 30 second shot to make this play right, it don't matter how the game hurts ya you come back next week and everyone has been a great player of the game at same stage in their life :)
