In the listing:

not sure if this is the real deal as there is no serial number on them

I'd pass.

I'm looking for a new set of irons myself and am really intrigued by the deals on demo or close out sets on Ebay. I'm a bit paranoid though. I got serial numbers for a few sets and plan on calling Titleist on Monday to confirm. Any other good tips on making sure that you get the real deal? I'm thinking that I should just go to a retailer but saving $300 on a barely used set is tempting. For the OP, does Callaway generally put serial numbers on their irons?

I'm not sure. For one, the hosel seems way too long, and another thing is that the colors seem off. That might just be due to poor lighting. Also, Callaway puts a serial number on the 8 iron, but that set is missing one. Ask him to send you better pics of the face and back of the club.

Callaway only puts a serial number on one club? To top it off that one club is missing from this set and the appearance is a "little off". As I said before, I'd pass.

That's what I heard, but I really don't know. I'd pass also.

As my friend is fond of saying "naw dawg" don't get these. Hard to explain but the graphics look wrong. The black and blue seem to have too weak of a pinstripe seperating them and the "x" itself looks a little light compared to the real thing. If you are hot for X18s go to the Callawaypreowned website. Check those pics and compare.

Didn't see a price, but if it's too good to be true it isn't. I've owned 2 sets of Callaways but damned if I can remember if they had serial #'s.

When a seller writes something like "not sure if this is the real deal" they are covering their butts. That's a sure sign to run.

Callaway x18's.

If you have any doubt, dont go with it. Bidding is always a risky route. And besides, it looks like someone glued construction paper on the backs of em.

Thanks for the replies...They are not the right sort of blue, they look "cheap" as well.

I wasn't looking at buying them, I do a bit of digging on golf clubs for sale over here and report dodgy dealings. That website will remove any auctions for clones or knock offs. We don't want them to be sold to unsuspecting people! Even when people admit they are fakes they still say they will play like the authentics! At least in NZ we don't see too many instances of fakes...the tend to stand out like these ones!

Another auction removed...

Cheers for the input

There is a website I was told about that sold imitaion Callaway X18's for around $250. Those are probably the imitations. I heard good reviews, but I would pass.
