Everyone seems to hate on the looks of of clubs like this. Not dont get me wrong if a club looks wrong to me Im going to have a mental block and hit it poorly.

But that rule only goes for looks at address. You cant see all the nonsense on the back of the club at address. It looks the same as any nonblade players iron so who cares?

Clubs I havent thrown in a lake yet

LOL - I just picked these up after considering between the Tour Preferred and the Titleist AP2. To be honest, I like to look of the TP better than the AP2. There is something about that striped badge on the AP2 that just looks rinky-dink (though they feel awesome).

Once I receive my Tour Preferred Irons from Taylormade, I'm going to take off the paint. I've heard nail polish remover does the trick. Any other suggestions?

Nail polish remover should do the trick. Are you just atlking about removing the yellow ring? The only other paint is the fill in "TOUR PREFERRED"

Those three black geometric shapes don't have paint over them? If not, then I guess just the yellow ring.

Actually, good question. I have never looked real closely at them, but I assumed they were some sort of polymer piece stuck on there to dampen vibration, but you could be right.

Can anyone confirm if those bars are part of the cast or stuck on after?

I'm pretty sure it is an aluminum plate stuck to a softer material stuck inside the cavity. The bars on the plate are painted black, as I've seen some with scratches.

"NOT: The inverted cone is not as large as the cosmetics lead you to believe. At least that's what we saw when we peeled off the badge."

-From Golf Digest

So you can peel that off? Will it lose performace (vibration dampeners)?

The only thing I know is that the medallion on the back is specifically there to create a certain resonance when you hit the ball to produce a pleasing sound, but I haven't been able to find a good explanation for "inverted cone technology".

Ah, I see no. That whole back piece is stuck on there, I guess similar to the top of the AP2 with the stripes:

I like the look of the TP irons, I dont have any problem with them. They might not look as sexy as a blade, buts it's good for what it is.

The TP have nice feedback, and performance but I prefer the AP2's or the MP 52's.

My irons finally came! OMG! They are beautiful! The yellow circle is so tiny I don't even think I need to take it off. Wow, nice shape, very tiny heads. Wow, beautiful clubs...

Indeed! I got mine a few weeks ago and love them. Though, the black geometric shapes everyone is talking about is painted and it comes of pretty easily. Just from some bag chatter and several rounds of golf you I can see some "scratches" but it looks more like it's just paint coming off. Not a big deal to me.

If you ever decide to strip the paint or paintfill them or anything be sure to post up some pics... I think the right club artist someone can make these look really awesome.

They are definitely more workable than my last clubs... I can actually draw the ball on purpose... haha. Looks really cool to me as I almost never draw with irons.

Well, took these puppies out today for the first time at the range. Took the pitching wedge out and shanked like my first ten shots. I think it's because I was going in thinking how hard they were suppose to be to hit from my previous irons. Well, after I hit like 4 good ones in a row, I got all the confidence back and hit them great. I hit my 6, 5, 4, and 3 irons all 200+. Which is really weird, because I only managed to hit my PW about 125.

But anywho, the workability is amazing. I can hit a low shot, a mile high shot, and a cut with my 3 and 4 irons. I'm actually struggling with my shorter irons, if you can believe that. :(

Great feeling clubs. Amazing upgrade from my previous irons.

You hit these ok being a 21?

Yup. I think confidence is the real issue when it comes to playing irons. If you believe you can hit it good, then you will.

Mine arrived yesterday - with the 3 and 9 iron shaft bent about 30 degrees flat from UPS apparently running it over with a hi-lo or something. Fortunately the dealer I bought them through is going to ship me a new set.
