Hi guys, i've tried three different woods so far and i can't get comfortable w/ any of them. So far I've tried:

Titleist
Callaway FT-
Taylor Made Burner TP

Its wiered because I can hit my driver just dandy, but when i look down at a three wood it makes me adjust my grip/swing and caused me to pull hook. I really want a 3 wood that has a square face. Seems like almost everything out there has a slightly shut face.

thanks!!

Mine is a square face (see sig)... the 13* model in the xcg line is 2* open. They have a sweet feel and sound on contact and they are longer than anything else I have hit... mostly due to a magnesium crown.

I have a similar problem w/fairway woods so for the last 15 or so years, I haven't carried them. Driver, 2-iron was my game. I did keep a Callaway WarBird 4-wood around and would use that from time to time. It took a lot of practice to keep from turning it over and hitting a big hook though. I think that most of that was in the shaft though, not the 4-wood or nature of fairway woods in general.

When I got new irons I decided to drop the 2-iron because I was hitting the new irons further than my old ones. This opened up another slot in my bag and I decided to try fairway woods again. I ended up modeling my 3-wood shaft after my driver and ended up with something similar. After spending quite a bit of time with a launch monitor I found a combo that is working out very well for me.

I'd suggest giving the Callway FT another try, except this time, try the tour version. The head has a slightly different shape that is set up a bit better for the lower handicappers such as yourself. In my experience, it's a completely different club when compared to the standard FT (it behaved like it in the launch monitor anyway). With all of the shaft options that you can get, I'm sure that you'll be able to find a combo that will work well for you.

Try a Mizuno F60 3 Wood. I like ita lot, playing with a 906F4 now but if I got another 3 wood it would be the Mizuno.

Both the new Mizuno fairway woods and hybrids are pretty good. I hit them in my search along with a lot of other brands. I would rank Mizuno's line in the top 3.

keep the suggestions coming guys. anyone recommend nike?

I love my Nike 3W. Very easy to hit off the deck, and I can hit it farther than most of my friends hit their drivers. Nice sound on impact, and puts a descent amount of air under the ball for soft landings when you are trying to reach the green on that Par 5. I would go to a store and just hit as many as you can. The one you end up liking the most may not even be in your possibles at the moment.

Never hit it, but two of my golfing buddys (both single digit handicaps) both got a new Cleveland 3-wood and swear by it. Couldn't begin to tell you what model it is (not familiar with Cleveland woods) but I know it has a red shaft in it. I've been dying to try it out, but unfortunately my golf has been extremely limited in the past 2 months.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG

One I'd like to demo longer would be the Callaway Squareway clubs.

It a 5 wood at the driving rang and was highly impressed.

Hi guys, i've tried three different woods so far and i can't get comfortable w/ any of them. So far I've tried:

I had the same problem so I got a 14* rescue club and started playing it. As time went on I noticed I was getting more and more comfortable so I started going at the ball harder. I could fly the 14* 235 yds comfortably. Then out of curiosity I put my MacGregor NVG2 12.5 3w back in the bag and I'm just ripp'n it now. It takes awhile to get good with the fw woods. LOL, sounds like you are right on schedule. IMO, MacGregor NVG2 fw are really easy to hit.
