Hello. I did a search on this but nothing came up to what I am looking for.

I have a G10 10.5 in a stiff. My driver swing speed is about 99-102.

I bought the G10 21* hybrid in a PF V2 in a regular flex. My irons are regular flex and I have had no problems with them for the last 8 years.

I have a pretty fluid swing. I used to swing at about 104 but was wild. I slowed down the swing to smooth it out and hit better.

My question is... Did I make a mistake with getting a REGULAR flex shaft for my hybrid? -- Sometimes I push it. Some times I have a draw/hook. Sometimes I hit it straight. I don't try to kill it. Just make smooth solid contact.

Thanks.

Boss,

I think you may have hit a home run. Reasoning behind that is this: I have the driver in my sig line in the stiff V2 HL. I love this driver. I'm gettting a nice med-to-high trajectory with great carry and solid run, too. I'm happier than I've ever been with a driver.

I bought the 4 Wood and 15 hybrid and both have the V2 HL shaft-stiff in them.

The fairway & hybrid versions are much heavier than the driver version. There isn't much play or whip in them at all.....at least not at my swing speed which is just a tad slower than yours. The results have been lower trajectories. I actually enjoy this with my 4wood....gives me a nice med-to-low traj for smooth tee shots or even a med when I step on it from the tee or fairway lies. I get much better distance than I did with my old 3 wood.

The hybrid, though, was too stiff. I wanted a stick that I could air mail into a green from the 200 range. For my swing speed it's just too firm. My buddy has hit it only one time....on a par 5 for his second shot.....nailed it 248 yards with a nice med-to-high traj. for a soft landing ball.

I should've consulted the matrix on UST & Ping's webfits a little more carefully...I would have seen that in the hybrid I was bordering more one the regular flex.

It's also more helpful to demo the stick outdoors vs indoors into a net which is what I did prior to ordering the hybrid.

Trial and error....hope it didn't cost me more than $50. The store is selling my hybrid for me and I've ordered a regular flexed V2 HL shafted Ping that should be a solid 200 yd med-to-high club for me.

I think you did very well. One thing that is amazing about some of the shafts today vs ten years ago when I was buying clubs is the enhanced performance from the regular flexes. Back then you could take a reg flex and torque the head around too easily.....had to buy stiff to get any type of accuracy. It's simply amazing at both the quality and the assortment of shafts being offered by big name club companies now.

Good luck with your sticks.

I also have the exact same question. Same results with some pushes and hooks. and i too have regular flex in myburner hybrid. I'm not a hundred percent sure what my driver swing speed is but when buying my hybrid and hitting on a launch monitor, it said my average hybrid speed was 88 mph. To answer my question and the OP's Question, Whats roughly the swing speeds for each flex? My advice to you, and probably what I will do too, is go to a fitter, hit some balls and ask his opinion.

Boss,

Dub,

I appreciate your input on the hybrids. I think I did make the right decision in terms of keeping the regular flex just like my irons. --- For me, irons are smooth and fluid. So I went with regular flex. They have been lights out for 8 years now! The hybrid is a fantastic club and I'll just have to tinker with it a bit more. Thanks again, Boss
