I want to know how many hybrids you carry and why? I am debating whether or not to dump the 5-iron. I hit it weak off of the fairway and find it really inconsistent. I just reshafted my hybrid with a steel shaft and am still waiting on a verdict. I like it so far, but it waits to be seen. Any thoughts or comments will be interesting. Thanks

I carry two, but they are the 4,5. I found I hit my 3 hybrid about as far as my 5 wood. I like my 5 hybrid, its one of my favorite clubs. I even use it alot for greenside.

None anymore. I carry a 2 iron, 4-PW and a 5 wood. That pretty much does the trick for me!

I carry 2 hybrids, the 4 and 5. My 4 hybrid has a long shaft (40") so it is almost like an 8 wood. It covers my 3 and 4 iron distances.

I can cover my 155-175 distances without the 5 hybrid as I can work the 4 hybrid short and my strong lofted 6 longer by delofting a bit. But the 5 gives me a lot of recovery options and serves as a nice fringe putter as well.

I dropped the 3 hybrid and added a 64* wedge. For me, it saved strokes.

Uhh... None. I've never felt the need to carry one. In fact I just swapped out my 2-iron for a 3-wood.

No hybrids here:

I recently took the 5w out of my bag to make way for another wedge.

I don't have problems hitting my long irons.

I carry one hybrid, a Titleist 585H 21* that replaces my 3 iron. I just don't hit the 3 iron consistently enough to warrant keeping it in the bag, although I do hit my 4 iron consistently enough that that's why it is in there.

I carry TM Burner #3 and #5 hybrids. I kept the 5-iron in the bag for the first couple of rounds and forced myself to use the #5 hybrid. About a half dozen shots with the hybrid convinced me that the success rate of the 5-IRON was much less than with the hybrid.

Now, my 3, 4 and 5 irons are sitting in a spare bag in the garage along with several other clubs that have been replaced by newer sticks that work better.

I carry two, 17° and 21°. With my old X-20 tour 3 iron I was having a lot of trouble to putt the ball on air. With the two hybrids I can make a low shot or high. I'm really in love with them.

I carry an 18* and love it... My 3 and 4 iron seem to over sleep my tee times and arent awake when I need them so I am thinking about a 21* and 24* hybrid as well.

I used to carry two but now I carry none because I started snap hooking them and after a recent swing change have brought my clubhead speed up enough to hit a 4 iron pretty consistently...

Just the one a 19° i pretty much only use it off the tee on short or tight par 4's dont use it off the deck much as i hit my long irons just fine... if only i could putt id be off single figures :(

Used to carry both 3 iron and 19* hybrid but no longer can hit the 3 iron so took it out and just use the 19* hybrid for anything in the ~200 yard range.

    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
