I certainly think he will win at least one next year and probably the Masters as that is the one he really wants now. Also his record at Augusta in previous years has been very good.If he just found a way to play the 15 hole. What do the rest of you think?

He will have to beat the healthiest Tiger golf has ever seen.

Whats in the bag?

Fairway Wood = Wishon Golf 915 F/H 16* Square Face Angle

Hybrids = Wishon Golf 331H 21* & 24*Hybrid Shafts = Wishon Golf GI335 Tour Weight 92g Stiff FlexIrons = Wishon...

Probably. If Harrington continues to play smart golf and trains himself to execute the shots under pressure, he can win.

More players are realizing that Hogan had it right. When you play in competition, you strategize your game to achieve a target score. A score you judge will win the tournament. If you get a lucky break, so be it. Recover from the bad breaks and play to achieve a certain score.

Hogan was once asked "How do you win?" and he simply responded "At the end of the day, shoot the lowest score".

Several times, Hogan knew what number he had to shoot to win, he planned it, shot it, and won.

It's really that simple. Anything else is either gravy or a distraction. Sometimes both. Hogan's icy stare was not to intimidate opponents. It was focus on what counted. The shot at hand and the target score.

I reckon Harrington will go on to be Europes best ever player in terms of major wins.He only gears himself up for majors every other tournament he plays is just used as preparation. The thing with Padraig is he doesnt have to be playing well coming up to major to win one.

well he has to win 5 more majors to be europes best ever and he is still a young man so I agree he could well become the number 1 majr winner this side of the pond . Always has been a mystery to me why he has not won at Augusta he is long off the tee and a great putter exactly what you need to win the Masters.

I reckon Harrington will go on to be Europes best ever player in terms of major wins...

The following European players have won more major than Padraig:

* Vardon (7) * Faldo (6) * Seve (5) * Baird (5) * Taylor (5) * Anderson (4) * Old Tom (4) * Young Tom (4) * Park (4) In order to pass Mr. Vardon, Padraig needs to win five more majors. Although anything is possible, I seriously doubt he'll accomplish that and I'd be surprised if he wins even two more majors. Despite the fact this thread "isn't about Tiger", Tiger is the man to beat in any major or any tournament he enters, for that matter.

I disagree he is obviously the best player in the world at the moment and the fact that he won 3 majors in 18 months suggests that there is nothing that can stop him winning more.Fair enough Tiger will win some here and there but he wont win them all and as for next year I dont think Tiger will take home one major

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I do agree that Paddy will win more majors, but I don't think that he will win 5 more. I think he will win 2 or 3 more. In the upcoming year I think that the players with the best chances to win a major are (in no particular order) Tiger, Paddy, Sergio, AK, and Villegas. Since only Paddy and Tiger have won majors on that list I would say that there is a good chance that he takes one down, as I agree with the above poster about having doubts about Tiger playing in the Masters

I think Paddy has the ability to win a lot more on tour, I don't think you can predict which ones. That's a little too difficult, but he has a chance to win any tournament he enters. There are too many factors involved on a given 4 or 5 day stretch during a tournament that will have an impact on the outcome.

I like Harrington's game, he's impressive. He's got a great determination--you can obviously see it in his eyes when he's determined!!

I think it's just that Harrington does his best competing in tough conditions. There's something about major championships and taking advantage of the few birdie opportunities that come around that he responds to better than, say, shooting for 20-under at the Byron Nelson.

    • Played Sunday and implemented the Mayo spinner. Hit my second shot long and left on three to a bare lie. I have seen this shot to a tucked pin but I don’t swing across it enough and hit it too far with a ton of spin but it rolled into the bunker. I pulled my approach short and left on ten to a horrible lie with about 3’ of rise to a tucked pin maybe 5’ on the green. Ball is in a damp lie with debris behind and in front of the ball. Hit it to 3.5’ but horseshoed the putt around the right edge, which was a common miss. I hooked my tee shot into an unplayable lie in the hazard on the left side of the par 5 16th. Hit a great recovery that rolled to about 45 yards short of the back right pin. Hit the spinner over a bumpy green that rolled just over the ridge to 3’. Sank the straight 2.5’ putt. Felt like I had good control of these shots!
