Wilson 8802 - style putters

But the sophia sure seems sweet.

Question for people with experience playing this style of putter: do you think it is a little harder to square to the target and align, than say a putter with a center mounted or offset hosel?

I personally find it squares up easier than my semi-mallet, but then again I do use an old-time "all wrists" stroke.

I don't know, I like my putter because it's more old school. I' almost rather putt badly than play with some of the newer putters, like the Odyssey Sabertooth. No offense to anyone using one, or should I say, to anyone using one well. With the 8802 style putter with the hosel at all the way at the heel, I find the toe can get a bit wig-waggy.

For whatever reason my lag putting has been off a bit since I went to my IMG5. Probably mostly because I haven't practiced lag putting with it. Go figure!

The ping tess putter is another 8802 type of putter.

Is that a new putter? I've never seen that version before.

8802 style putters don't have much room for alignment aids so I would say it would be a bit harder to line up than most other putters.

Yeah, I agree. Putting is such a feel thing that a behemoth (like the Sabertooth) would take away from feel.

I have the Yonex tour forged lefty version and for that matter the whole set of Yonex Super ADX tour forged irons.

I have the Yonex blade putter Phil Mickelson use many years ago and I also have the Arnold Palmer Original from Callaway. I like the Yonex because it has more weight.

I currently use a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 but sometime take out the Yonex. I remember one round I made 6 birdies with 4 in a row, putting lights out with the Yonex.

The miss hits loose distance on long putts, but it makes you focus and concentrate on your putting, similar to driving an M5 vs a lexus LS400, the M5 command your full attention when driving.

I've recently become obsessed with the Wilson 8802 style putters and I'm definitely going to get one soon. Anyone know any others besides the ones listed below?:

i gamed one of these for awhile and was VERY happy with it. comes stock at 335grams but i added a little lead tape to it to make it 355grams.

Just the other day I found myself in a predicament Yes! Sophia Or... Ft handed Wilson tour Special I forged Currently playing a enter shafted yes! Carolyne and wanted something more traditional and knew from wilson lovers like myself that the blade/8802 style putters are some of the best feeling putters out there. All I knew was the tour special had offset like the 8802 and the second version (tour special II) has no offset. I decided for the tour special all original left hand because I know from the two years of looking for a left handed version I decided by its good condition and 35 dollar price tag was unbeatable. But what I'm trying to post is there anyone who has had experience with the yes! Sophia blade and the Wilson 8802/napa style blade and had comparisons in terms of differences all around???

I really like the Yes Sophia. really like how it gets the ball to roll over off the club face. Good luck.
