Arguably one of the best and maybe second or third longest running primetime animated series, King of The Hill, has been cancelled;

And in favor of a Family Guy spin-off too. Maybe it's just me, but Family Guy got boring pretty quickly after it got renewed. I haven't even been watching the old episodes.

Meanwhile, I have King of the Hill season 1 on DVD and I've probably seen each episode a dozen times. For as much as I didn't like my home town growing up, and as much as Arlen reminds me of it, I still enjoy the show. Future seasons were on the purchase queue before my recent freeze of DVD buying. Maybe now I have to skip a round of golf and pick up another season.

It figures. With a few exceptions, Fox has a long running tradition of starting a new show, letting it run for 4 weeks or so and then cancelling it about the time you get to know the characters. I wish I could name all their shows this has happen to.

I realize a network doesn't have time to "grow an audience base" when ratings on a new show are in the tank. Also Fox does have some newish hit show like "House", "Bones" and "Prison Break" so they must be doing some things right. But I find so many people that enjoy King of the Hill for several different reasons. I can't imagine any new animation replacing it in popularity.

i hate crap like that, if something does realllllly well, they ditch it, as with anything

i work in a grocery store and i get so much crap when we used to have something and it sold sooooooooo well and then one day they discontinue it and ppl come in yelling at me cause we dont have it lol

No offense intended to those who like the show, but King of the Hill always bugged me. It had a few moments but felt way too heavy-handed with its morals. I can't say I'll miss it.

Maybe Mike Judge will go back to doing Beavis and Butthead... haha there's a timeless piece of animation (or, um, maybe not).

yea i honestly wasnt too into king of the hill but i know plenty of ppl who def were, but because i didnt really like it much doesnt mean it wasnt a complete bonehead move lol, theres obviously a reason its been on tv as long as it has lol
