You know, this is just sick. Regardless of political affiliation, there's no need to stoop to this level of partisan pettiness when it comes to young kids. I hope some punk teenagers egged this woman's house that night.

A joke my history said that, don't go to a house that says obama biden because they will take your candy and give it to the kids that are too lazy/ can't trick or treat. lol

How do you know other people didn't do this to republicans? That's a really silly view to decide on things said on the news/internet. You should go with the candidate that best represents you, not the one you heard less bad things about.

Also why is this a big deal? Last time i checked you don't have to give out candy? She can choose who she wants to. I agree it is ubsurd, but still she is well within her rights.

Why is that funny? I'm sure if a democrat did this people would be laughing. Since when do you have to give out candy?

its not your point of giving or not giving out candy, its your point of it being within your rights to choose who you are going to give candy to. its runs counter to the whole idea of halloween as a community celebration. sure its within your rights, this is not a question of constitutionality. its one of being a member of a community. and no, folks would not be laughing if democrats did this.

It's not illegal or unconstitutional, merely inappropriately partisan and shallow. But, here is an example of how the new media has altered the American political landscape. We have blogs, YouTube, social networking sites, and all the other Internet outposts for gathering and spreading information that either didn't exist four years ago, or whose significance as a tool for grassroots politics had been unrealized before now. Because of these resources, anyone who is a supporter of a political candidate must understand that they cannot assume their words or actions will languish in isolation. When people do things as asinine as this, it spreads like wildfire, and it isn't just a poor reflection on those individuals, but on everyone supports a certain candidate; in return, it makes the candidate him/herself look bad.

I'm glad that st0wgolf08 volunteered to offer the kind of responses I was hoping for. Conservative Republicans have been able to use this sort of crude "liberal straw man" humor effectively in the last two decades, first through talk radio programs and then the chain e-mail. These arguments could work in the past because the process of verifying the information they spread ad nauseum used to be so slow and complicated that their words eventually muddled in with the truth. That doesn't work anymore, because the organizational structure of the new media is so strong that any claim can be fact-checked, and any shorthanded message be elaborated, within minutes. Jokes that enforce blanket generalizations of people of a certain persuasion don't resonate when there's nothing behind the generalization. Saying that an opponent is guilty of the same indiscretions only makes the messenger look worse when no concrete examples of the act are forthcoming.

Please pay attention. he did not claim this did not happen to Republican children nor did he critique Republican candy distributors. He took an anecdotal to show how immature bi-partisanship is, whether the woman is Republican or Democrat does not matter. You missed the point here and instead of seeing the absurdity of this you let your ego get the better on you and spouted nonsense, you seriously must be laughing at yourself for defending your womans actions. Just because what she did was legal does not make it morally mature. Please grow up if you agree with the behavior depicted in this video.

    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
