Hi guys,

I've been looking at 2 putters lately. The circa 62 #1 and the detour. I haven't got a chance to hit either but I was wondering which one was a better gamer? Currently i'm not that hot around the greens but my long game is wonderful. I'm hoping to shave a few strokes off with one of these and considerable amounts of practice. I'm currently hitting a yonex vmass 02.

They really couldn't be more different. If you have trouble lining up and making a "pendulum" swing, then go with the Detour. If you hit the ball in the center of the putter, and don't need the extra weight and alignment go with the Circa 62 #1. The mix of the two would be the Circa 62 #6 or #7.

The Circa '62 is one peach of a wand.....a purist's tool. Feel is super. I'd love to have one of these added to the bag to rotate in/out.

I had a Detour 1 putter....gamed it for a month then sold it for what I had in it. It is freakish looking, but I will say this....it really helped me groove a putting stroke. I likened it to a putter with "training wheels". It was effective.

I ultimately settled in on my current putter and am loving it. The Circa you described would be nice to rotate to every so often...to keep my stroke it fresh.

I love Scotty Camerons because of the expertise craftsmanship involved. The milled steel is what makes Camerons what they are. The reason why they cost soo much is because of the process it takes to mill such a soft steel. Hence the reason why in my opinion the ball rolls a lot truer and feels a lot "softer" than other putters

The key for you is just to practice the mechanics of putting, getting proper distance control and knowing how to read the breaks. Assess what has made your putting difficult for you. Long putts? Maybe work on chipping closer. Lag putting? Work on distance control. Breaks? Work on constant speed. Downhill putts? Work specifically on these type of putts.

Putting and chipping makes up about 60% of my practicej, now (I used to bat away at 180 balls and then do 15 minutes of putting/chipping). In the past 1 year, my concentration has been to improve my putting, which I thought was due to my putter. I experimented with various putters until I got a putter that facilitated my natural pendulum stroke. I tried various putters: Guerin Rife 2 bar blade Yes! Marilyn Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2 However, I finally found an old Scotty Cameron Bullseye Blade which has been the best switch for me.

If so you might have one of the most valuable Scotty Camerons ever. There was one that accidentally went to a landfill in Florida and was never seen again...

I have the detour putter and I find it to have a great crisp feel, I like to use it on softer greens but for firm greens I prefer my red x 3

After hitting both I think i'm going with the detour, it's a little heavier and I found a holed a few more. I just need to work on that inside out putting swing, but I find this one promotes it. Alignment was great on the thing.

Now all I need to do is wait till next summer to start gaming this guy.

The arrow is only 10% of the game or putting and the indian is 90% of your putting. However, I also do switch from my own putters from a 2 ball blade style to a scotty cameron newport 2, If I am putting badly, I will take out my blade putter and practice making good solid contact.

If you are missing your short putts it could be your putting mechanics.
