Yesterday I finished Duma Key by Stephen King.

Still on my night stand are the last two novels I read:
Protect and Defend by Vince Flynn (I've read all his stuff....one of my favorite all time authors)

Sticks by William McMillen (it was an interesting read with a setting in an Ohio country club with some good golf action and adult themed fun).

I also have The Art of Putting by Stan Utley still on the nightstand. I'll glance at it every so often. It has really helped my game...highly recomend his method.

I just started The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger today. It's gonna be a fast read.

I'd love to hear some good recomendations of great novels you suggest.

Have you read anything by John Lutz? If you like cop/serial killer novels, his books are very good. I'm also a fan of Sandra Brown and enjoy most of her work. John Sandford (Prey series) is another author I like.

I like Sanford, Johnathan Kellerman, Nelson DeMille and John Lescroart among others. I also have a list of Pulitzer Prize winning novels and read one of those every couple of months.

If you're a Stephen King fan try the Dark Tower Series. That should keep you busy for a couple of months. I think it's his best work.

I give another for Jonathan Kellerman also. Agatha Christie is a favorite of mine. You said novels, but check out the Sherlock Holmes Complete . I have gotten into three different mystery/suspense authors lately:
The Inspector Morse series by Colin Dexter,
The Hamish MacBeth series by M.C. Beaton(I love this Scottish Highland cop)
The Inspector Frost series by R.D. Wingfield

Any of W.E.B Griffin's series are great.

In my  Warbird Hot stand bag:

Ian Fleming's "Goldfinger"!!! For a golfer, it is a must read. Of course this is a James Bond novel, but they have all been reissued and are available at any major bookstore. More of the novel is dedicated to the golf match than in the movie. After reading this book, I read the entire James Bond series. Yay me!

Two books I'm looking forward to reading in the coming weeks:

Ken Folliet - "World Without End"
The sequal to "The Pillars of the Earth". A novel about medieval England.

Cormack McCarthy - "The Road"
A post-apocalyptic story. I liked his book "All the Pretty Horses", and this new book won the Pulitzer prize. That's always a pretty good sign.

Got a good golf novel from a nobody selling at LuLu.com online. It is called "Customer Golf" and it is about a hacker who has to get good at the game before he can move up the ladder at work...pretty decent story. Go to LuLu or www.golfbookoutlet.com
I like Sanford, Johnathan Kellerman,

I've read all but one of his. DeMille is great reading.

I may very well pick up one of the McCarthy books and give it a try.

I'm finishing up one of the WEB Griffon books in his OSS series. I think I've got the next two in the series...but I may jump in and read something else in the meantime.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
