I notice that I can keep the line of my putt better if I take the putter low to the ground on my backswing. I also incorporate a forward press to prevent myself from hitting the ground on my follow through.

I also notice that most pros on tv do the same thing. Has anybody also experience this too?

I almost press down on the ground just before my backswing brushing the ground on my backswing and I noticed this helps keep the line and make my putts, even 10 footers.

I don't use a press and I don't know if my putter is low or not on the backstroke. It's not even something that I think about. IMO, a forward press with the putter is just another moving part to deal with... and for me that would be a significant detriment.

I'm a pretty decent putter, so I don't try to analyze it... I just do it.

I am a big believer on keeping the clubhead low on backswing. This seems to help keep the head online and help ensure making contact with ball on slight upswing. As for the forward press, I have tried it and find it works on fast greens but on slower greens the ball just doesn't roll as well because of delofted clubface. I prefer to keep it simple with no press, although if greens are really fast I do sometimes do the forward press still.
