One question, are Cleveland CG14s workable?

Can you hit them low on demand???

Can you draw a shot into a back left pin?

I wont ask about a fade, I can't hit them anyway. I just want to know if they are a one tricky poney (I'm thinking high and straight with that slight cavity back). Yes I'm playing Vokeys now, and no I don't have anything against them. But I think it's time for a change.

Stacey I would say they are only ever so slightly forgiving than their cousins the CG12. You play the CG2 irons and my CG2 PW's sole is the same width as my CG14 GW, if not a little wider. I feel it's a natural progression going from the CG2 irons into the CG14 wedges. The only reason I did not play the CG14 in my SW and LW is that I wanted the DSG with certain bounce options for playing out of greenside bunkers and tight lies in the 60* and the 54*....well I could have gone either way with that one to be honest but I bought it before the CG14 came out. I can't comment on how they would play in higher lofts as I only really use my 50* for full shots in between the PW and 54*, I can draw it but I'm like you with fades, they don't come on command as much as I would like.

If you can hit a significant draw with any short iron, you are good...

Otherwise, the CG14 are very workable, can hit them high or low, feel soft, great turf interaction (for me).

They are pretty nice clubs. I have never had any problems moving the ball around with mine. I dont play the pitching wedge, and my usage is such that I am presented with many more shots with the 60 than the 56, but the lob wedge is game for anything you throw at it. I do keep tem down on occassion, but I've got such a good feel for mine going that I can work them up into the wind with the right amount of draw or fade. Good feel and I agree that they are very soft, the polymer insert was an odd idea, but is well executed and doesn't have any negative impacts I have seen.

I hit my friends a while back and personally hated them compared to my vokeys. But if you like them go for it, just not for me. Maybe go try some different wedges if you can.

Do you ever make a comment with reason or is all just a Titleist commercial?

You MUST switch to CG14. I bought these a couple weeks ago and scored a birdie from 110 yrds with my 52. These are amazing from the sand. Will get it out of the bunker for sure. Amazing clubs.

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
