So, after much debate as to whether I should reshaft my Taylormade Burner, I decide to stick with the stock Fuji REAX shaft and have them nip it down an inch. (The R flex shaft seems really whippy to me at 50 grams) They also put a much preferred grip on it.

So I get to the range the next day, line up to the ball and whack a really nice drive right down the middle. I set up another ball and bring the club back and right as I start the downswing, the shaft snaps inside the grip. What the hell did they do to my driver....

So, I originally bought this driver from Golfsmith in the used section for $129 when they had the Burners on sale for $169 about 4 months ago. I no longer had the receipt, but I did have the receipt for the shaft shortening and regrip.

I brought it into the Golfsmith store in Austin, and spoke with the floor manager. He proceeded to walk to the Burner rack in the store, grabbed me a brand new one , and regripped it himself. He said something had obviously gone wrong when they cut it down. He suggested that I use it at the stock length if I still didn't like it, I could bring it back for something else.

What an awesome store!!

That is pretty cool service... Then again for the price you pay for anything at those stores I would expect nothing short of that considering I picked up an R7 driver on ebay for $55 in pristine condition...

I dont hate the burner driver but on the otherhand I would much rather play this R7 I have

It was class but the manager figuring it was his shop's fault was probably accurate. My guess is that they hairline cracked or weakened it when it was in the vice getting cut down. Snapping under the grip seems otherwise unlikely.

That is amazing service! I'd say it is more indicative of the manager than the store. But they are the one's that employeed him, so bully for Golfsmith. Congratulations!

That is very nice to hear... A lot of options out there as far as retail golf stores are concerned... Good to know that Golfsmith is taking care of their customers!
