I previously used a 2 hybrid to replace my 5 wood but switched back to 5 wood again.

Now I am thinking about going back to 2 hybrid because can't seem to hit the 5 wood out of the rough and seem to have better control with the shorter shaft of a hybrid.

What do you guys think? 5 wood or 2 hybrid? Thanks.

In my opinion, I would go with the 2H. They seem to be much easier to it for me and easier to hit out of the rough.

As long as distnaces are similar, which I think they should be, use the easier one to hit. Which seems to be the 2H in this case.

I would go for the 2hybrid. I cant hit a 5 wood either.

Distance or accuracy? Typically a 5W will give you increased distance over the 2H. At least it does for me. Good luck.

If a 2H is easier for you, go with that. I personally find it easier to hit a 5-wood (I dont get a lot of carry distance with a 2H), but whatever works for you is the way to go.

I currently carry a 2H to replace my 5W. I have found a 2H is easier to hit from almost all circumstances and is easier to control. I especially like it on windy days because it has a lower trajectory. The only problem with 2H is that a 5W is easier to hit off turf (at least for me). I sometimes switch the 5W back in back for 2H if I'm playing a long course or a course that requires some long carries for second shots or has lots of fairway bunkers in play off tee on longer holes. My 5W is probably slightly longer than 2H, but not much.

I have a 10 year old 5w in the bag now, however, I will be replacing it with a Hybrid beacuse it should be easier to hit out of the rough and more importantly, land softer if I set it up with the correct shaft.

I generally keep a 4 wood in my bag, as well as a 2H, and on any given day I hit one or the other well, but not both. Really frustrating, but I like having the 4H for drives on long par 3s, and like the 2H from the fairways/rough. I can hit both about 220, but generally hit the 4H longer (16 degree vs. 17 degrees, and the shaft is a good 2" longer). Don't really know that you sacrifice accuracy with the wood -- if you can hit your woods well, you can generally hit them straight.

Why not keep your 5 wood and a 2H? I dropped my 3 iron, so I've got room for both in my bag.

I agree with hamletsdead, if you could let go of your 3i then you'll have room for both. If you're in the rough you can pull out your 2H and on the fairway you could use your 5 wood.

In my case I use a 18* 5W on the fairway and when i do land on the rough i go for my trusty 22* hybrid. I may lose some distance but i can get out of the rough with ease, something i cant do with my 5W Hope this helps, Happy Golfing!

But then he would have a club that he does not need. If you can hit a 2h from the rough, you should be able to hit it from the fairway.

I like the idea of a 2h over a 5w. I just replaced my 5w with a 2h. However, my 5w had 20* of loft while my 3h had 21* of loft. It was a smart choice for me to either find a stronger 5 wood or a 2h. I chose to buy a 2h because of the versatility of the club. You can easily hit it out of rough, whereas a 5w may be troublesome.

I can't hit the hybrid's and have switched back to the 5 wood. I think you should use the club you are most comfortable and have the most confidence.
