I am going to be in Yorba Linda (near Anaheim) for a conference in mid-March and I was wondering if anyone had some course reccomendations. I don't mind paying a little more to play, but nothing ridiculous.

Thanks!

Unfortunately that's all I've got for Orange County courses, I don't get to the OC too much, and when I do I'm out at private clubs. I'm from The Valley up in L.A. county, out here most people head to Ventura County for good public access golf. If you don't mind driving at least an hour, I can suggest a few.

Black Gold is nice, it's where I live. It's 6 minutes from my driveway to the first tee.

Anaheim Hills is also pretty nice but crowded most of the time.

There's nice inexpensive courses in Corona also.
Eagle Glen, Trilogy at Glen Ivy, Hidden Valley...

Whay day of the week are you thinking of playing and what are you wanting to spend? I'll play Black Gold with you...I'm there often enough.

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
