I love golfsmith but they seem very high for grips that can be had elsewhere for better prices...

I usually just type in the grip I am wanting into google and get the search results. Get a piece of paper and write down the site and price (find out shipping charges) and look for the cheapest. Some sites will offer a quantity deal, others will not. There are so many places that sell them, this what I do everytime I need to buy grips. If I find a really good price I will buy enough for two or three changings. Golfworks usually has good prices and large selections so this is usually the starting point. One thing I have found is that the websites that are also 'box' retailers (Dick's, Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, etc.) are usually a little higher priced than just the component sellers.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Golf Galaxy is about $.50 a grip less than Golfsmith on Tour Velvets, at least at the Raleigh, NC store.

Unless you are getting a deal like this, I can't understand squabbling over a $1 or $2 per grip. I must be lucky because my guy regrips for free if you buy the grip. Sure the price of labor is hidden in the grip, but 30 mins later I can be at the course playing. I get tour velvets for $5 a piece installed, I think. I like tour velvets because they are always in stock. But if it was some odd grip that I had to pay $2 extra for, that's what $26 extra max?

ive always bought all of my grips on ebay. but you gotta be careful cuz sometimes you end up paying the same or more than if you bought them locally cuz of shipping costs.

I buy all my components (grips, heads, shafts etc) from

http://www.diamondtour.com/index.php . I bought 3 sets last week @ $1.30 per grip. While those may not be the cheapest you can find out there, they are reasonable and they have a wide selection.

eBay usually gets the best deals. However, I think I once bought ?fake? Golf Pride New Decades on eBay. I got a decent deal but they really didn't feel like the ones at Golfsmith or the ones I had on my clubs from previous regrippings. The black compound part felt too thin, really ridgy, and really rough compared to ones at Golfsmith. I'm guessing they may have been manufacturing defects. Likewise, the Lamkin Cord grips I purchased from eBay didn't have a very uniform cord pattern. The cord didn't seem to be well distributed like other ones that I bought later on at Golfsmith. Same problem as the Gold Prides. Well, my point is: if it's only a saving of a few dollars, I would rather spend the money at Golfsmith or any other big golf store to be 100% sure I am getting the quality that I want.

Go to Ebay and search for Karakal grips... It is one of the best and least expensive grip available. Karakal is a company that is relatively new and hasnt had a whole lot of exposure but their quality is on par with the industry leaders.

Winn grips come individually wrapped. I don't know if others do (anyone?). I bought 50 on Ebay and regripped two sets of irons in my garage, and still have a grip of grips left for next season. I almost feel bad for not taking them in to the local guy at the golf shop, but it's just so easy to do at home.

I "almost" feel bad when I do mine...until...I realize I can play a round of golf for what they would charge in labor. But then again I dont mind charging people to reshaft/regrip someone elses..LOL
