I was at Carls Golfland today and they have the Callaway Big Bertha 2006 3-PW and the Taylormade R7 Draw sets on sale for $289.99 I demoed both sets and was pleased with both, but I think I like the big berthas more. Which would you choose? Why?

They also have the Nike CCI set but I did not like that set as much as the others.

Callaway has always been known for their "game improvement irons". I don't think you'll go wrong with them.

I am actually not sure what my handicap is. I have only been plying for less then a year but I am able to hit irons the best. I am going to pick up the BB as soon as I can.
Thanks for all the replies.

You said you prefer the BB's so that usually means that the best choice. The TM R7 Draw is supposed to also be a good set, though. It was the favorite club a couple years ago on the Golf Digest Hot List. A friend has those and has improved his iron play a lot. He previously hit a bad slice with everything in bag (including putter I think). Those irons have helped him a lot. But, it's important to go with what you like best.

Id go with the Callaways. Those BBs have huge heads and should be stupid easy to hit. Ive always preferred Callaways to TMs (never been much of a Taylormade fan), but its your call.

Now I am not sure on what to buy. I really like the BB but yesterday I went to another store and hit the Mizuno MX-19 and the MX-25. I really like the feel of both of those sets and how smooth they hit.

In many ways the Mizuno MX-25 might be your best choice. They are not as forgiving as the BB or TM, but they do have a nice feel (as do all Mizuno irons) and they will give you room to grow, whereas the other sets (including the MX-19) are clubs that if you become serious about the game and work your handicap down to close to single digits you would probably want to replace. The MX-25's would still be good for you at that level. However, if you do not plan to play a lot or practice a lot then you are probably better with any of the other 3 sets you mention because they are more forgiving and easier to hit so you'll have more fun playing those occasional rounds. None of the sets you have mentioned are beyond your skill level, so you have done well in your research.

I practice every day of the week. but during the season and whens theres no snow i try to play 3 times a week, usually just twice. So I think i am going to have to get the MX-25 set.
Thanks for all the help.
