My 5 wood is 19 degrees in loft and is super tough to hit off the ground and because of that i only really use it off the tee on par 3's. However i always seem to be a little to long with the 5 wood so what would you do about it. I would like to replace it anyway so would a 3 iron hybrid of 19 degrees of loft take a little off and get me the distance i want. Although taking distance away it will gain me distance in the fairway over my 24 degree hybrid. I am looking at a taylormade burner 3 iron hybrid. I have read good things about them... if anybod has one what distances are you getting and do you like the club?

The new burner rescue 4 is a 20* club, might want to look at that.

Im looking at golf smith and it actually says 2 different angles, so, I'm not sure now which it is.

have you tried taking distance off your 5 wood by choking up on the club and taking the same swing with your club? you can also take distance off a club by opening the club face and aiming left and don't let the club close

I just replaced my 5 Wood with a 21* Nike Sumo SQ Hybrid 3.

Love it. The thing is so easy to hit, and the ball just jumps off of the club.

I was thinking of getting a 5 wood.

I had to quit hitting my Nike Hybrids, all of a sudden I started Hooking them bad, They had been my go to club, until recently. I liked them so much I had a 2, 4 5 and 6.

I did what the OP is considering and haven't missed my 5W since. I loved my 5W. It's always been a club I could hit well, but there really wasn't much of a difference between it and my 3W. My 5W was 18* and I've been happy replacing it with my 19* hybrid. I sometimes struggle a little more with my hybrid than I like, but I find it a much more versitile club than my 5W. I routinely hit my hybrid out of fairway bunkers, hard pan, deep rough, you name it the hybrid is able to effectively play all of those shots. In fact I seem to hit it best when dealing with trouble shots as opposed to good lies in the fairway. Go figure?

I replaced my 5W last year with a 2H and have been very happy with that alternative. I will sometimes still put 5W in the bag when playing certain courses. It carries a little longer, lands softer and is much easier to hit out of fairway bunkers, but most other shots are easier with 2H.
