After my recent experiment with changing my HiBore Gold Stiff shaft to a Graffalloy Red Prolaunch and the improvement in bot accuracy and distance I'm chomping at the bit to see if there's anything I can do with my Iron shafts. My driver speed is 105mph so I would be in the faster end of the scale.
I play Mizuno MP60s with the factory fitted shafts ( True Temper Dynamic Golds I think ) Only prob I find is my accuracy could be better. I get consistently good distance with them but wouldn't mind trying some different shaft just for the hell of it to see if I can improve this aspect of my play.
Anyone know what steel shafts I could look at?

I'm old fashioned, but I still think the Dynamic Gold is the best steel shaft out there. It's still the most popular shaft on tour for irons, followed closely by the Project X. They are both good shafts.

If you are seeking more accuracy, try going to a heavier shaft. The dynamic golds get heavier as you go stiffer. If you have the S300 shafts and swing your driver at 105, you could probably get away with moving up to the S400 or even X100, depending on how you load the shaft and what your desired ball flight is.

If you want to try a lighter shaft that will give you more height and distance, try looking into the Nippon Steel line. They make some steel shafts in the 80 to 90 gram range, as opposed to the 120 to 130 gram range that the Dynamic gold and Project X are in.

Also, to maximize your distance and accuracy, find a good clubmaker that can frequency match your set. This will have the effect of fitting your shafts to your swing and retaining a consistent feel throughout the set. You always hear people say they hit one club better than all the rest, probably because that club is best matched to their swing. Frequency matching can fix that and make all your clubs feel the same.

Good luck!

call around to your golf stores and find out what stores carry the MP60 with different shaft and bring your 6 iron in and hit the other shafts on the launch monitor and see if its the shaft or simply your swing.

equipment is generally 10% of the problem and you are 90%.

Your clubhead speed is close to mine , so I would recommend my current favorite shaft : the Apollo Hump shaft in S flex . These used to be Vijay's shaft of choice ( and also Jim Furyk ) . They are an unusual shaft that is smooth yet is very difficult to overpower by strong swingers . The only downside is I don't believe they are currently available in anything but a .370 parallel shaft ( no .355 taper ) . -- K.

Like the Nippons a lot. Had them matched and aligned and they are very accurate, very smooth and light weight.
