Fresh news from Titleist!, Regarding groove ruling.

Titleist just called me today saying that my custom order of 2009 Vokey Spin Milled will be delayed till beginning of April because they will be making groove adjustments to their new orders according to the new ruling that will take place from next year... Has anyone else experienced this or are they just bs-ing me because they can't fulfill my order in time? Tks.

I will give you my honest opinion.. i make alot of calls to alot of companies, and besides cally, Titleist always seemes very professional with all of their orders, and when there are mix ups, they are usually handled quickly..So i would say that they probobly are trying to send EVERYONE a legal grooved club.

looks like i should hurry and pick up a new spin milled vokey before they change the grooves. i'm no pro so no worries here yet.

I've put in an inquiry to Titleist about this, but in short, I don't believe they're doing anything to the grooves. The manufacture cut-off date is next year.

Yeah. It will be nice if you could find out. If this doesn't turn out to be true then I will have to go and get my deposit back since I don't want to wait for 2 months for my wedges... And if not true, I will still go and get my money back for confusing the heck out of me. Thanks.

great position to know these types of things at Titleist:

There is absolutely no truth to that posting. We will have new condition of competition conforming groove wedges available for players later this fall. Until that point and even into 2010 we will continue to sell the current product. Any shipping delay for the current Vokey Wedge product is because demand is running ahead of supply.

So that's that.

Ok. Thanks for the confirmation. I had another confirmation regarding this matter from another forum as well. So I can now confidently go and yell at the Titleist guys for lying. Thanks a bunch for the info!

Just spoke to the boss of my initial contact at Titleist. The actual reason for delay is that Titleist has already forecasted world demand and produced/distributed the target number already and they are running out of components to build custom order clubs. He said one of the main reason for such shortage is that this is the last year that club manufacturers will be producing with the current groove regulation so Titleist has put a limit on production with the current groove rulings so that they won't over produce. Therefore custom orders will be delayed. I decided to just but one off the rack and bend the club to my specification.
