San Francisco, California

One of the best chineses restaurants in SF is called San Tung on 1310 Irving Street. They make handmade noodles, homemade dumplings, and their dry fried chicken is to die for, reasonably price and prepared to wait in line.

excuse me, I am on my way to eat at San Tung, I just made myself hungry for some dry fried chicken.

I enjoyed The Slanted Door tremendously, but it's a bit pricey.

On the cheaper-end I liked one of the Vietnamese Pho restaurants in Chinatown, can't remember the name though...

Next time I'm there I'll try San Tung , Thanks for the tip!

I enjoyed

The Slanted Door is great! One of my favourite restaurants in San Francisco along with Aqua, Farallon and Coi. My wife and I are both fans of the House of Nanking for casual Chinese when in the Bay Area. Trucker's cafes might put the decor to shame but the food is very good. I think for a relatively small city like San Francisco it has some incredible restaurants.

Some of my favourites: -Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, London -The River Cafe, Brooklyn, NY -Per Se, Manhattan -Verre at Hilton Dubai Creek, Dubai -Molecular Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo -Aria, Sydney, Australia -Rasoi Vineet Bhatia, London I'm hungry!

Houston, TX... two different locations... one on Richmond by the galleria; the other somewhere on bellaire.

Name? Chinese Cafe!!!

What to get? Double spicy chicken, Double spicy beef, or mix it up and get both. Beef with chinese broccolli is very good most of the time... but a lot more mild than the rest. Feel free to tell them "less" or "no spicy" if you don't like spicy foods. Stuff is amazing...

Here in Central New York, we have many owner operated restaurants, where the owner is the Head Chef, and a graduate of a good culinary institute. You can choose from French cuisine, Italian, Greek, Indian, Polish, Irish, German, seafood, and good old American steak houses. They are so good that a number of franchise restaurants closed up because they could not compete with "the locals". A good example of this was the Weathervane Restaurant, which had a super location near the NY State Thruway exit at Utica , and had fresh seafood from Kittery, Maine, and not frozen. The manager told me that he had to show a profit after one year. When the store failed to meet that goal, it was shut down by headquarters, and the building was purchased by a local group that then served an Italian-American menu. It has been very successful since. Meantime, the Weathervane has been successful in Saratoga Springs and East Greenbush (near Albany, NY).

Hey, weird... I've eaten at San Tung as well and it was great. Wish I was eating there tonight. Better idea... send your G5 Citation down to Texas and pick me up, and if you do, I'll pay for dinner.

In Houston, I always like Hunan's on Post Oak.

But let's get serious.... Mexican food in San Antonio is pretty darn good, too. Tomatillo's and El Mirador are hard to beat. (Hmmmm...making a sound like Homer Simpson just thinking about Tomatillo's green sauce.)

The best Korean BBQ I ever had last Saturday.

A buffet?

Does anyone know if these two restaurants are still open?

1. Crazy Crab at the lighthouse in Hilton Head

2. Old Pro's Table in Myrtle Beach
