I would replace your hybrid with a newer style 19-22 degree club. This falls into the loft of most 3-4 irons. My personal set up is 13.5* 3 wood, 15* 5 wood, 19*and 22* hybrid. Now the worst part I was messing around at Golf Galaxy last week, and was hitting an Adams 18* Tour prototype gold hybrid and was getting the same basic ball flite as my 5 wood, and when I choked down about 1/3 of the grip I had my 3 or 19*hybrid flight, so maybe I need to cash in the Taylormade 5 wood and 3 hybrid and go to the adams. I also liked the flight of thier 21* which seemed to hit a little better than my 4 or 22* hybrid. Makes sense to remove 3 clubs and put 2 in the bag that would cover the same distance and ball flight.

Vote here for a 4 hybrid in a 22-24* range, but go with a newer one. I would highly recomend at least trying the Cobra DWS 4 hybrid. This is coming from a guy that wasn't really into Cobra a few years ago. They have really uped their game for the mid to high handicappers. You will eventually need something between a 4 hybrid and a 3 wood. But for now, with your handicap, I would learn to hit a couple year old hybrid really well. Make that your longest club you hit off the deck consistantly. When you get to where you can hit it high and straight 8 times out of 10, then think about a 3 hybrid, 5 wood or whatever is 10-15 yards longer than the 4 hybrid.

You should be able to pick up a 2 year old used hybrid, any brand, for $50 or so. You will learn to love this club as it will get you close on those 175+ yard shots, work well from the rough, putt well from the fringe, just an all around versatile club. JMHO

Good Luck!

I completly disagree, as all hybrids are not created equally! you should take your 5 wood and your 5 iron to the range and hit some balls with a club fitter present and then with a launch monitor and track man present hit various hybrids until you find the one that fits the distance gap that you'r looking for! assuming that your looking for a club to replace your 3 iron if not do the same with the other clubs you have the fitting is almost always free and almost all of the pro's and fitters around he're are more than happy to work with you to get your game and clubs right, especially af your going to spend money so make sure they know you have money and are not there to just talk and hit there ckubs and waste time and you'll get great service.
