i think its mostly a personall choice which feels best yo you.im 6 ft and use a 34 inch putter while someone you heighth might prefer a 35 inch putter.but like i said its about personall preferance

yup, its all personal preference. im 5-11 and prefer a 35" putter. i believe Phil Mickelson is over 6 feet tall and uses a shorter (33" or 34") putter (not exactly sure)....

I'm 5' 10" and mine are 35".

Putter length can be as personal as putter type and style, but for your height, 34" or 35" would tend to be most common.

34" or 35" is the most common supposedly because that is the hight that works best sticking out of a bag at the golf store. Gary McCord and others claim that the Tour average is shorter (33") and that most golfers would benefit from using a shorter putter.

Measuring down the shaft to the ground which comes out were you strike the ball my old one is 33.5 and my new one is 36 if this is the proper way to measure either way the new one is 2.5 inches longer and is bent down by the putter head so if I want to shorten it how would I go about it.But first I will use it as is and see if I like it first

I'm 5'9" in golf shoes. I use a 33" putter. It's about as perfect as it could be.

I'm 5'9" with arms a little long for my height. I play 33" and 4* flat from whatever a standard Ping lie is. At times, I still catch myself setting up with the toe a little upright. Rather than bending my putter flatter, at this point, I just force myself to keep the sole flat.

Ping has a great putter fitting tool. It works for any putter brand or style you choose. The tool is a putter with a telscoping shaft and a rotating hosel to adjust for lie. Just telecope it until the length feels right. Then you bend the head until the sole sits flat. Take the numbers off the club (i.e. the length and lie angle) and know the standard Ping lie versus the club club you want to buy. You can get a really good fitting for those two specs in about 30 seconds. Picking the style putter you want, head weight, loft, type of hosel and grip style, size and weight will take much more study. But you can pick your length and lie in about 30 seconds with this tool.

Good Luck!

Hey! It's not the length of your putter that matters, it's how far you can drain it from that counts!

How much can be be cut off the shaft if need be before it changes the dynamics of the feel of the putter. Can you replace the weight you take off the shaft with lead tape or some other kind of weight?

If you use the Titleist Cameron putters as an example, for every inch of decrease in shaft length there is a 10 gram increase in the head weights. You could use lead tape, but I believe with 1/2" wide lead tape (the standard thickness kind) it takes about 4 1/2" to make 2 grams. If those numbers hold true, it would take 22 1/2" of lead tape to compensate for a 1 inch shaft cut.

As for how much can be cut before it changes the dynamics? Well that is truely up to the golfer using it. Some have no problem with loosing 5 swing weight points, some can feel a 2 point swing weight change and are bothered by it. Most poeple don't consider how changing a grip can effect the swing weight as well. On my current putter, I went with a heavier grip earlier on. I thought the head felt a little heavy. I increased the grip weight and size, which in turn increased the overall weight but decreased the swingweight and "heft" of the clubhead. I got lucky and struck on the perfect balance, for me, from the jump. A lot of golfers will claim, with some validity, that if you make a weight change early with a putter (before you are aclimated to the old setup) you will never know the difference as you won't have a solid starting point to compare it to. I'd say that is somewhat true. Good Luck!
