hey all, ok basically my PW is 46 *

i have been using a 52/58 setup for quite some time, and i like that combo

i have not even been playing for a year yet, so when i bought my two wedges, i didn't account for bounce.

my course i play and work has very firm sand in the bunkers, and the fairway lies are Very tight.

my question is, would i want a lower bounce , such as 8 , etc. on my 52, and a higher bounce on my 58 ( normally i would want lower, but i am a digger)

as mentioned, i am a digger, and have a pretty steep swing, but i am not sure what amount of bounce i should get for a 58.

help / input is appreciated

thanks

On firm courses you would want to play with low bounce so 8* on your 52* is fine.

However, from my personal experience, I always tend to dig with my past 58-8* vokey spin milled even on firm ground. So I changed to the 2009 Vokey SM 58* with 12* of bounce and it has improved my game tremendously.

My current set up is 52-8* and 58-12*.

k, thanks for the input, i appreciate it

+ a co-worker / friend plays the same setup you mentioned. he actually got rid of his old Vokey's yesterday, and got newer ones ( last years model). He got the 12 bounce, to experiment, but he said he likes it so far. I think i will go with 12, thanks again

You're on the right track. I too am a digger and I've just swithed to a 52-10 & 56-14 set up to try. Most of the courses I play have soft sand and well irrigated fairways.

+1 - Another digger that's been assisted by the 14* bounce in the SM56.14.

Another digger here. I've been using the 50.08, 55.13, (56 bent 1* strong), 60.04 & 64.09 setup on a tight home course. Our bunkers are hard for me to describe - the sand is coarse but kinda heavy at the same time. This mid/high bounce setup has been good for me. I do carry a low bounce 60 that comes in handy in wet packed bunkers and in the summer when the fairways get hard panned. But in the wet stuff it never comes out of the bag.

One good thing about the Vokeys is that they seem very versatile. Although my 55.13 has a relatively high bounce I can't remeber ever bouncing into a shot with it. Now that my swing is getting shallower on the downswing (new swing change) I still find I can hit the ball off the fairway with the same sand wedge. Something about the design lets me slide the club in and take virtually no divot if I choose to. With the Vokeys, I'd say err on the side of more bounce. My low bounce 60 is very apted to dig, good at times, bad at most times. JMHO

Good Luck!
