right now my handicap is about a 9 (thats a guess, i dont keep track for sure but thats my best guess at an average from last year). to me, that means im between true "players irons" and "game improvement irons." i would go for the players irons, but those are a bit too expensive for me. im 15, no job, and dont want to drop $900 on irons.

after looking around, i came across the taylormade tour burners. according to taylormade's website, they are more workable than the r7s/burner plus but not as much as the tp's/r7 tp's. they seem like a good fit for me (once i get the cast of my broken left wrist ill go and demo them). plus i can get them off ebay brand new for around $400.

anybody have experience with tour burners or have any other suggestions? any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Geez.... I might as well work for Mizuno with all the promoting I've been doing. You stated that the money issue was keeping you away from players irons. I would recommend Mizuno irons, like the MP-32s, or MP-60s which are players irons but definitely not hard to hit. I have bought a set of 32s for under $400 in almost new condition off of eBay. If you are not willing to stray from Taylormade, the r7 TP irons can be bought on eBay for under $400 as well. As for more "playerish" game improvement irons, like the Tour Burner, I would also suggest Mizuno MX-23s/MX-25s which are selling for under $400 as well on eBay. My point is, if you want a player's iron, there are many sets on eBay for less than $400.

I've got the Tour Burners and I really like them. Forgiving, workable when you want to, look nice and feel really good. Personal preference for me though would be to stay away from ebay, I think Golfsmith have them reduced by $200 anyway and should be down around your price range. You might then be able to take their price to another dealer and negotiate an even better price somewhere else. Enjoy.

Try shopping at gppgolf for taylormade things if that's what your interseted in. If you fall into standard sizes they for a while had r7 TPs with project x for only $500. Tour burner driver for $150...

Of course, if you want to go eBay, you may be able to find better deals... but GPP is an authorized Taylormade store. Not sure about their other things, but it seems they get some good discounts on Taylormade products.

Seeing as how your other clubs are from the burner line.... go with the tour burners! Seems to me it'll make a nice set you'll be happy with.
