As a fellow high handicapper I take a different perspective. I can spend 15 bucks on brand new box of warbirds or something like that or I can buy some used pro-v1's on ebay or craigslist for less than a buck each. I get the warm and fuzzy feeling of playing a good ball and dont feel bad if it ends up in the drink. I actually feel better because its not a brand new ball! I wont say I get the full benefits of playing a "better ball" because I probably cant take advantage of the technology but I still get the satisfaction of practicing with a ball that I hope will one day help me improve my game.

The only bad thing about a higher handicap player using premium balls - in this case Pro V1 - is that they spin more. That might sound good as it brings images of hitting greens and having ball spin back to cup, but in reality the ball also will have more sidespin on those shots where perfect square contact is not made. Sidespin quickly can become hooks and, more commonly, slices. Typically, spin for a higher handicap player is bad. A slice with a high spin ball will be further offline than a slice with a lower spinning ball.

If Taylormade Burner TP balls cost the exact same as the D2 Feel, which would you go with?

i cant speak for the burner tps balls as i have never hit them. however, they would be hard pressed to top the D2 feels in terms of value.

same as before, ive never hit the D2 Distance before either. the only reason i even hit the D2 Feels is cause i was running low on balls so i stole a few from my dad before i went to the course. sure enough i ran out of my taylormade burners, so i tried the D2 Feels and loved them. i shot my all time best score with them the next round out when i only used them.

Not to mention that most high-handicappers cant hit a green from 100 yards or more away, so the spin doesnt mean much.

4 words: Top Flite D2 Feel. these are the absolute best balls out there for the money. you can get 15 balls for $15. good like beating that. you get great distance, great forgiveness, and it feels good to putt with. id definately give them a shot.

I can beat that. Precept Laddie-X. $19 for 2 dozen, which comes out to about 79 cents per ball.

What is the difference between men and women's balls?

To the OP, You should give the Noodle+ long and soft a try. They are like a dozen for $15, and pretty soft around the green.

They arent super-spinny balls, but they perform comparable to any of the other cheap/distance balls.

As a "dedicated" ProV1/ProV1x user, I experimented successfully with the Callaway Hot at the end of last year and really liked it. I am looking forward to trying the new Hot Plus, which is out, and you might want to look into those. They are about $24 a dozen, and play well and even have a bit of on green performance.
