Ok, I digress on the scalping part, I can't confirm that!

Yeah, the crowd is going to heavily depend on Tiger. There was no one really there last year when I went on Thursday for the first round.

I think the issue in 2008 is that it was the first year in the area. I know a lot of people who had no idea. Also RCC is not really near public transportation. I would think/hope that it will be busier this year but LNGC is quite spaced out so crowds wont seem that large. Of course on a bunch of holes there are limited standing areas.

Being back there next year should bring more crowds as people who have gone can rave about the spectating, the golf, and the exciting playoff.

This year the forecast is totally awesome. That should help bring em out.

Do you mean weather wise? I saw that too, on weather.com, but lets be honest, a lot can change from now up until the tournament.

Whether or not Tiger is in the event is going to play a HUGE role in the crowds, as well. To a lot of golf fans, he's the only person they care to see (sadly IMO)... I hope he doesn't go in. Less crowds = better for me. Not a huge Tiger fan (although seeing him in person would be AWESOME) so it wouldn't bother me much.

Most tickets are already sold I believe, but this could bring in another wave of ticket buyers. If he does sign up, the PGA will surely promote the heck out of it.

Yes, you're right, the weather looks awesome, but like I said, it could all of a sudden change and rain that day...with how much rain we've had this summer, I wouldn't be surprised!

As far as Tiger, yeah, the PGA will definately promote it to death. Hell, they've been promoting the entire playoffs to death all year on TGC. But, yeah, I just hope I can get the Tuesday, not too many people there, and have it be a nice day weather-wise.

Yeah. Right now Tues and Wed look good. Thurs+ is too far out to be accurate. Probably look next Monday to get a good focus on the general weather outlook.

I should still be fine though for the practice round on Tuesday, right?

I am pretty confident they won't even come close to selling the P.R. tickets on Tuesday even though Tiger is there, but hey, you never know. See ya down there Tuesday (hopefully, 99% sure I can make it...)

Well, Tues and Wed were quite nice. A bit windy but that is normal for being on the water. It wasn't crowded as I expected.

Most pro-am players weren't too good, making it a perilous place to be around some places!

Thursday was cold in the morning but it warmed up nicely by 11am and turned out to be a super day. Again it wasn't so crowded, most people followed tiger or Phil.

Friday the rain and wind came. It rain enough to make it difficult but not enough to cancel the golf. It dried up around 2pm and the afternoon players got a good break.

DiMarco almost nailed me with his drive, partially my fault cause I wasn't paying attention, but three of my marshals just 20 yards away didn't yell "fore".

Because of the rain threat Saturday was an 11am tee time off #1 and #10. Even though I emailed my marshals a few neglected to check it and showed up at 7:30am... eeks.

Saturday was still a little rainy but nothing too bad.

Sunday was the nicest day and was very exciting to see the event. Almost had a stellar playoff with Tiger, Ernie, Padraig and Steve (Stricker). Oh well.

Overall the players did NOT love the course. There were several holes, especially mine (#3), that the players had some choice words for.

By large they were happy to get out of there and head up to Boston. I suspect neat year they will be even happier to be back at Ridgewood.

my father had a GREAT time. he went 3 days and said all of the players that he spoke to were really nice. A lot of them stayed after to sign autographs....even the marquis groups stayed on the 3rd day to sign stuff for him...shake hands...etc... I'm really kind of mad that I wasn't in town to go!

pops just watched..hung out at the practice area and just ran into people as they were leaving the course after their rounds. he said saturday and sunday... people were a little more serious..but were still really friendly.

I was hole captain for #3, there all week. Be sure to go on Thurs or Friday as there will be 125 golfers, vs Sat/Sun where it's just 70+. I'll be a hole captain next year too, don't know which hole though.
