Hyper X or '08 Cobra LD F Speed?

If you had to pick between a Callaway Hyper X, (non tour), or an '08 Cobra LD F Speed driver, which would you choose and why? I am on an extremely tight budget, and for the money I can spend, I am between these 2. Either of these would be with the stock shafts. Thanks!

I've never felt comfortable with the stock Fujikura shafts. I had the '08 Cobra and liked it before I got TM Tour Burner which I like even better.

I've heard really good things about the Hyper X Tour. I know it wasn't an option, but it's the same price as the regular Hyper X. I think it has a nicer shaft and an square face as well. Just something to think over.

The Tour version of the Hyper X is supposed to be a pretty low spinning driver which leads to more distance. I think I saw this in GD. If you just want the regular version, I'd say the LD.

I'm not sure if you've already demoed these clubs yet, but for what it's worth I was at a range the other day and saw a guy hitting the Hyper X. He was in the station behind me. The sound that driver makes is brutal. It was actually downright distracting, and that is in comparison to the Nike drivers and other loud ones like the Hi-Bore. That said, if you don't mind the sound, go for it.

COBRA IS AWESOME. I hit callaway drivers before i demoed this one and even on mis hits toward the heel the cobra gets great distance. The sound is a little annoying at first but overall i believe cobra is a better choice than callaway.

i can clobber both of these drivers but if youre not going to get the tour x... id def go cobra

Is there really a big difference between the regular Hyper X and the tour version? I know the tour has a slightly open face, (which would not help me), and a different shaft. Are the heads the same though? Is the tour better just because of the shaft?

A friend of mine picked up an '08 Cobra speed, and it rocked. Never hit the Callaway, though.

I have a Hyper X Tour 9.5 right now I tinker with and it's pretty long. Not as forgiving as the Cobra LD, but I prefer the more traditional shape of the Hyper X as opposed to the Cobra. I also like that there is no alignment aid.

It's a low spin, mid launch driver, and the face angle on mine looks pretty square to me. Mine has the Fit-On 360 shaft and t seems to fit my swing pretty well. I've had good success with Fuji shafts, so that's not really a surprise. If I had the money I'd put a Fubuki in it or a Whiteboard in it to experiment.

I hit my friends Cobra Speed LD 5000 inertia driver a bunch during our recent Myrtle adventure.

I'm looking for one now.

I don't replace clubs often, for me, it was just that good.

completely agree... sqaure face is nice, shaft feels significantly better to me.

These noise arguments seem rediculous to me... I have always been able to get used to whatever sound a driver makes... it's not like you here the sound in 12 second intervals or something... it's just a pop and it's over. Kind of like Pavlov's dog... you hit great drives, eventually you drool over whatever sound it may be.

I believe the heads are the same, except position...

I think both are very solid options... I was close to buying the Hyper X Tour, but went with the one in my sig instead... have you checked Callaway Preowned, much cheaper than new, and the one I got was in the second grade condition wise, and I honestly don't think it's been hit more than a handful of times... looks absolutely perfect.

hit both of these drivers (around 100 balls each), IMO, i find that the cobra is a better one, feel better, seems easier to get the ball airborne, forgiving,...
oh boy, cobra equipments are very good but underrated

I have the 07 version of the Cobra - it is obnoxiously loud, but a great driver IMO. The noise doesn't bother me at all, and when i walk past my friends drives on my way to mine, they get a little envious. I did speak to a Cobra rep when the 08 version came out and asked about the sound, he told me that he lost quite a few sales in 07 due to this, but for 08 they tamed the sound down. I think it is still rather loud, but nothing that you can't get used to unless you are a real purist. I had a few friends with the Cally and they really did not like it that much. I think you can typically find used Cobra gear for less than Cally also, but not 100% certain. Good Luck.
