cuting down a putter

So i recently bought my cleveland classic #2 and i couldnt decide between a 34 or a 35 inch. i went with the 35 and now think its a tad to long. whould it effect performance if i cut it down?

To keep the swingweight and feel the same, you will need to add about 10 grams to the head. If you haven't grooved a feel with the putter yet, it may not bother you. If you aren't for sure about cutting it, just tape off 1" of the grip and always make sure to grip below that. If it works for you, then you can cut it later. You may also get the same effect by bending the putter 3 or 4* flatter.

You probably won't feel the difference in cutting down one inch, but I could definitely feel the difference after two inches.

Id do what stacy recomended for the time being. Tape off an inch and grip from there. See how it feels.

I cut my scotty down(i know thats not recomended for that kind of putter) and have never putted better.
