OK, This is my newest thread i haven't been around for a while sorry guys... was golfing in the Caribbean...

I tried out some new equipment while i was in Florida on the way down... and picked me up a set of Nike VR TW blades... and this is coming from a guy who usually plays Taylor Made... I like the feel and the quality of the material... they are very easy to hit... I hit the long irons so high with them... I even stuck the two-iron back into the bag and yanked 5-wood out...

My question is has anyone, even with the situation the economy is in, tried out any of the new '09 equipment and put it in their bag....

simple question... I have some super game improvement clubs i tried out too that I will put my two cents about later...

(I'll just say Erik is right about the launch angles with these extremely delofted clubs)

I just ordered a set of Cleveland CG7 Tour (red) irons (4-PW) from Golfsmith. I debated throwing in the Rifle Flighted 5.5 or 6.0 shafts but instead stuck with the True Temper Dynamic Gold's.

The strange part to me was that I went in fully expecting to purchase the regular CG7 (gold) irons due to my 17 handicap. However, after hitting lots of balls at the range, I seemed to hit better with the "tour" version. Can't wait to try them out on the course.

I also picked up 56* and 60* CG14 Black Pearl wedges and had the Rifle 5.5 shafts put in those. I'm hoping to get a 50* in the coming weeks and I should be set for a while.

I'm coming from component clubs from Gigagolf.com. Those clubs were nice and I learned a lot in the 1 1/2 years since I've picked up the game and bought those clubs as a starter set.

I was just ready for something new and less "game improvement". I love my HiBore driver and I hit the Cleveland irons well. Those two things combined with the relatively reasonable price of the brand new CG7 Tour's sold me.

MX-200 3- and 4-iron (though I guess those aren't technically this year's new stuff) and an '09 Vokey so far. Replaced hybrids with irons and filled a gap. There might be more on the way, but it's hard to say.

Until I tested my 905R side-by-side with an iQ and S9-1 F speed today I was thinking about a new driver, but the numbers (ball speed and launch angle) that were given were so similar and consistent across the board that I'm not ready to jump. Especially with the iQ and S9-1 F being hook machines for me. Stupid closed-face drivers...

Maybe new irons to fill out my planned blended set (MP-52s and either -62s or -67s). A 4-wood's possible or a 18* hybrid. A Rife Abaco putter or Barbados Black heel shafted putter, maybe? Dunno.

I am trying to pick up a new FT-9, but I need to sell my Cobra Pro Speed and my Nike SQ in order to do it. I have demoed the FT-9 and loved it. I am trying to resist the urge of just splurging and buying it with the hopes of selling the others to compensate.
