I would beg to differ Mike, but as 5 Keys is only concerned with the 5 iron swing and Bubba's driver is what I have observed then I don't really have an argument unless you think the 5K's hold up with his driver.

The only key I would say he doesn't have with the driver is the second, weight forward. His head may move a bit more with the driver than irons, but that's because he can. Same goes with the weight part. You don't need the weight that far forward and the head to remain as steady with the driver since the ball is sitting up on a tee. He's also hitting +5º up on the ball. The head is still in control. You don't see it moving all over the place. The biggest move from address happens right before impact when he jumps. Nobody is saying the head must be stationary. It is relatively steady[/b]. You will see more of the weight forward and steady head with the irons, where you want to hit the ball on the way down.

I would agree with all of that. The head must dip and move away from the target to accommodate the hip slide and thus it stays steady. I don't know where you get the +5° figure but I'll take your word for it. Does anyone know of any good videos of his swing?

Yes, generally hitting up 5 degrees with the driver.  And I would say the weight is forward at impact, 60%. Like Zeph pointed out, it's relatively steady but with the driver he's borderline on the downswing in an effort to swing "up".

When we say steady head it's more in relations to back and forth movement, there is definitely a lowering of the head, in reaction to lowering to lowering the cog to use the ground for power.  Bubba is a bit of an outlier with the driver, here are better examples

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
