Most manufacturers produce those charts. If you have a specific shaft in mind, check that company's website and I'm sure you will get the information you need. It would be different for different companies and models.

Of course you have to consider things like tempo, transition and lag if you are borderline between two flexs. Most of those charts get you in the ballpark anyway. Was there a specific shaft you had in mind?

tempo is more of a determinant to shaft flex than swing speed is.

It sounds like you could easily play x-flex (X100s, 6.5s or 7.0s, or any X in graphite) just from your 6-iron distance.

In my Ogio Ozone Bag:
TM Superquad 9.5* UST Proforce 77g Stiff
15* Sonartec SS-2.5 (Pershing stiff)
19* TM Burner (stock stiff)

i went to the true temper website and filled out questions and it recommended dg x100 i dont likeproject x so its tt for me workin on gettin some new irons then woods next

For your distance, you are X felx easy.. If you are worried about that being too much club, check out the SL series. My 6 iron went 185, and i put the SL's in em, as i like the Feel of x's, but you can swing them faster as they are lighter by about twenty grams.

Ok......all true temper stiff and x-stiff are supposed to give you a low ballflight. Is this ok? Second, the x-stiff are going to be a bit stiffer and heavier than the stiff, USUALLY.
Check here: http://truetemper.com/golf/dynamicgold.asp You could either go stiff or x-stiff. Try both out if you can and see which gives better results.

I would go and get fitted, or at least try different variations of flex before buying.

Perfectly put! You could swing 115 and swing an S or swing 105 and need an X depending on how quickly you load and fire your club.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
