I just did a title search for this product and I expected to find 25 threads and there isn't any real information about this product from those that have used it.

Has anyone actually used the Golf Buddy GPS system. It sounds very intriguing because of the no course download and I like the looks of the display on it.

Who has used this product?

I have it and it is great. Has a distance marking feature, has distances to bunkers and other major features on the hole. Good battery life too, doesn't run out after one round unless you leave it on. Distances can be +- 5-7 yds according to the course or whatever but usually dead on. Simple to use and you have pretty much all the features of a skycaddie on it, plus you don't have to pay a monthly fee.

I use and love Golf Logix. It has a yearley fee of 29.95 and allow an unlimited download of any course you play and is spot on!

- Its not the best one in the market, I have one before but now I use my Iphone, anyways, it comes with 20000 preloaded courses and you may use AAA batteries if you run out of it. I read uplay upro and i golf neo is better here http://budurl.com/golfgps , but the golf buddy GPS is a safe buy, because the new ones may not have data about your course

If you hav an ipone try the airvue app it costs 40$ but is awesome!!!

Any new info or advice people have on the Golf Buddy units ?

Looks like Golfsmith has the Golf Buddy Plus unit on sale from $349 down to $199.99.
Seems like a decent deal for not having to pay annual fees.
All my local courses are on there as well.

I never got any follow-up to my question back in Nov. I am ready to take the plunge and grab one of the cheaper GPS units under $150. The Golf Buddy Plus is now $149 at Golf Galaxy.

Was curious what people thought of it. I had considered the Bushnell/iGolf Neo however the course I play most is not on there. The Golf Buddy has all the courses I play. Hopefully people can provide some current feedback on this brand. Thanks, Eric

I read in the golf buddy pro manual that distances are calculated from tee box to green in a straight line. Which they say can make dogleg hole yardages inaccurate.
Say you lay up on a dog leg, will the unit then recalculate your distance from where you are back to the green ?

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
