Can I piggie back this post and add the TM Burner 3w and the Adams RPM 3w to this question?

What are your thoughts on these?

I am also considering the F-60 Mizuno, but I see some, not so favorable, reviews here....

Thanks for the "allowable" intrusion.

It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

I'm looking for a bit of advice on picking up a fairway wood to complete a full set. I'm on a budget so I'm trying to avoid spending too much.

IMHO the F60 is the most under rated FW around. It is very easy to hit both off the tee and the deck, nice sound when you make solid contact and very workable. Try to demo the 3W or the 4W.

I say lose the 3 iron get a 17* clk and get a 15* f 60. They will go nice with the rest of your set and the hybrid should be better than the 3 iron unless you already hit it well.

That is what I'm thinking now. Probably go with the f60 first to fill a bit more of the gap between my 23* hybrid and my driver for tee shots. The way I figure it, 550 yard par 5 = Driver to 230-240, 23* to 400-410, that doesn't leave too hard of a shot for a 6-7 iron for a GIR or GIR+1 on a bad shot. It's those pesky par 4s or a long par 3 where I'm looking to really fill the gap. The super long par 5s (there is a 630yard from the back tees at one of my local courses) I'll try the wood off the deck.

Hey Schapman,

Golftown just have the F60 FW on sale for $75 CAD last Friday in their Anniverary Sale. Go there again and see if they have any left. The sales person may be still able to give you a deal.

Ended up getting the Callaway last night. $110 after tax was the best deal I could find. I ended up hitting it along with the mizuno f60 and a couple others in their launch monitor and luckily for me I was hitting the cheapest club the best.

Wow, I can not believe this, but I love the Sumo2 5900 and the 3 wood for that matter. I saw the deal for the free fairway wood with the purchase of the driver in this post and thought I would check it out. I was actually only looking for a new fairway wood.

Unbelievable... I had always walked by those huge squares and rolled my eyes. I'm all for technology, but I thought moving into a square driver head was beyond my comfort level. I'm very consistent off the tee and play for accuracy not distance. I was hitting 260. Effortless drives are now carrying 275 to 285 and feel GOOD. I have the 9.5 w/ Aldila Stiff shaft. Great shaft!! I can pass on the Diamana but that was all that came in the fw wood. I'll be changing that out.

If anyone reading this is even considering another driver or fw wood, check out the 5900, for $199 w/ driver and fw wood, that can't be beat (TGW, Golf Galaxy and GS are all doing the deal). I am shocked and grateful at the same time. Thank you to whoever listed this deal in the post. Between these two clubs, I'm sure they're worth 3-4 strokes a round.

I was only able to get in 6 holes before the weather moved in, but from the tee, they were great holes.

THANK YOU!!!

P.S. I tried many other drivers and fw woods today to be sure it was the way to go regardless of price. YES!

i agree. i dont understand why so many people wont even try a square headed wood. i just went from a Callaway FT-i (played it for 2 years) to the Mizuno MX-700. im hitting it about 10 yards further than the FT-i, but i hit more fairways with the square FT-i.

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
