Vokey help!

so the other day i was looking for a wedge and i came across the callaway x tour. and wow what a nice wedge it feels so soft! the only problem is it came with 9* of bounce and thats to much for my liking. so im still looking for a new 60 and heard lots of good thing about vokeys specifically im looking for the SM 60 with 4* bounce. whould the feel of these wedges be comparable to the forged callaway x tours? also with the spin milled groves is it still possible to execute bump in runs? or will the ball just stop?

Great wedges. Consider the Mizuno MP wedges. Either will provide you with the options you need.

Bump and runs are easy with the vokey's. Its all about technique around the green when executing shots.

Why would you hit a bump and run with a 60? But yes, and depending on how you stike the ball, the SM vokeys do not realese as much. They grab the ball cover more which will impart more backspin. But the callaway tour wedges grab just as much.

No offense intended but at your handicap you should be looking at much higher wedge bounces. Normally, more bounce equates for more love on the mis-shits. The lowest bounce I have on my wedges is 10. My 58 is 12. If you plan on using your wedge from a bunker, the bounce becomes even more important. I am selling a 60 SM with a bounce angle of 6 (I believe) because mishits tend to dig in like a shovel. It's great when you nip it perfectly, but I rarely hit a perfect shot. By the way, all the good things you've heard about Vokeys are IMO true! Good luck in your quest.

no offense (always a good caveat...) but at a 28 handicap, a wedge is a wedge is a wedge; regardless of name brand, bounce, grooves, color, finish, shape etc...

Vokeys are great IMHO. No problem w/ bump and runs. Only problem i ever have w/ spin is the full shot. Man do those spin like crazy.

I don't use my spin milled 60 for bump and runs, and that's not what I got it for. It stops the ball even on short chips, which is the way I play it if I'm using that club.

I would be surprised if you would end up happy with such a low degree of bounce on a lob wedge. I've always been able to play one, and 8 degrees is plenty low enough, in my experience . . . maybe if I had to hit off a cart path I would want a 4 degree, but that's just me.

handicap is in no way acurrate. i practice my wedge game alot so wedge feel is alot.

Bounce really shouldn't be associated with forgiveness. For sweepers, a low bounce wedge is better for them, for diggers(like me) low bounce wedges are a recipie for disaster. I tend to get steep espically when i dont hit a full shot, so a low bounce wedge will only stick into the ground for me. Also, if your a 28, the difference between a vokey and a bazooka spin milled wedge really isnt going to be very noticable. I would reccomend that you get some tour edge bazooka spin milled's and save a ton of money. I have seen these things for for 10.00 on ebay, and i have to admit that they are really nice.

great thing about the spin milled is that u really gain spin on longer shots. but on chips it's not really making such a big difference. btw does it really make sense to play bump and runs with a 60° LW? :)

X-Tours are absolute crap. Vokeys are 10x easier to hit.

I think the x-tours are just as good as the vokey's. The only reason why i buy vokey's is because of their fabulous feel.

No it doesn't, but my 54 degree SM is great around the green.

If you have ever hit either model, you will notice a difference in feel. I happen to prefer the vokey's feel over the x-tour's. The x-tour still has a very nice feel to it that some people may like more than the vokey's, just not me. f you read in my previous post, i never said anything about the x-tours having a bad feel, it just depends what feel you prefer more.
