Hi All

I'm currently using Cobra FP irons and Cobra LD woods, a lot of people have said that to get the full benefit of your clubs you should have a proper fitting session and have the them adjusted for lie angle etc and to make sure you have the correct shafts etc.
I went to Golf USA to ask if I could get a club fitting and basically all the guy wanted to do was sell me some new clubs.

Any suggestions?

Talk to the best player in your area and ask where they would go. In fact call up Pete Beringer at Wilcat Run in Estero - he knows the deal!

The best place for a public golf course player to go would be their local club and ask the head pro. If he/she do not do fittings with club adjustments, they may know a great fitter that can help you. Even if they cannot bend the clubs you can get the specs and take them somewhere else. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Guys,'

I belong to a Golf & Country Club that has four seperate courses in the area and none of them have club fitting available, I have asked around but most of the players around here are of the older generation and are just out for an afternoon hack lol.

No offence intended to anyone

Hi Guys,

Has anyone tried out GolfTEC for a club fitting? They are an authorized Mizuno dealer and I was thinking about getting fitted for some MP-57s. They use a lot of computer analysis for your fitting. Anybody got any insights?

Thanks!

Golfsmith?

How accurate are things like this?

I've always sort of wondered how accurate the results they give you after those measurements are.

The Website? I haven't ordered from there I just played around with it. Obviously working with someone on site would be better and I'd imagine that site would probably be better for someone who's been fitted before or has a good idea of what his or her swing is like.

Well, I'll tell you how I found out:

I had decided upon the Titleist AP-1 irons. That much I knew. But as you, I had no idea on who was a "good" fitter. Asked around a ton and got a ton of different answers. But someone suggested a good idea: call Titleist. I did..asked them who the rep was in the area and for his phone number (which they gladly provided). I was a little nervous about calling him (more like felt bad about bothering the guy) and left a voice mail on his phone. He called me back in less than 10 minutes. I apologized profusely about me being just a normal guy when he has large accounts to handle and he was the nicest guy in the world-told me I did exactly the right thing. He provided me with who he thought was his best fitter, explained why and even told me that chances are they'll have better prices on the clubs than "box" stores (they did-I saved over $100 off "list").

Couldn't have been happier, and honestly the way the Titleist rep treated me, being a guy who's going to buy irons once ever 3-4 years, it's going to be hard to get me away from them. He treated me like I was a million dollar account.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
