I'm going to treat myself to a new driver and am considering the following:

Cleveland Launcher
Mizuno MX700
Ping Rapture v1.
Cobra S9-1M

There is no facility for testing or fitting the above drivers in my location, given this i'll likely choose one of the above in regular flex with 10.5 degrees loft. Cost is not a huge issue but i'd like to select an appropriate product for the coming year.

I welcome comment from you guys if you are familiar with the above. I'm currently using a TM R7 draw, regular shaft and 10.5 degrees of loft and am looking to grow into a driver with less game improvement features - i'm working on improving my swing over the coming months with regular lessons and practice.

I like a traditional look and no ear splitting sound.

I hit my current driver 200-230 yards and have a 7 iron swing speed of 70-75mph.

Many thanks in advance.

I just bought a Rapture and love it but I wouldn't buy anything until I hit it first. Will they let you take it to the range if you leave your credit card as a deposit? Alot of places will let you do that. You may ask.

As evidenced by my signature, I really like the new line of Cleveland products. That being said, I'm hitting the Launcher driver very well and I'm finding that I can work the ball pretty well with it too.
In the bag:

My grandpa has a rapture that I was using last season, and my dad has a mizuno MX700.

I've hit them both and the rapture is much easier to hit and the mizuno has a very weird *ping* to it. My dad is also having a little bit of trouble controlling it.

If your hitting your current driver 200 to 230 and your current driver is 11.5 I can tell you that you need a higher lofted driver. Example if you have a 100 mph swing speed you need to have a ball lauch angle some where around 12 to 13 degrees. Not knowing your exact swing speed with a driver and looking at your iron swing speed and I am guessing around 85 to 90 with a driver.I would say you need a driver in the 15 degree area. There are alot of other variables such as angle of attack and so on. And as you say you not located near a facility to fit you . Compare you 3 wood to your driver distance I would say they are close to the same distance. There are lot of component dealer out there that make 15 degree drivers.

Golf bag all Wishon golf clubs.
Cameron putter.

3 wood is something I struggle with, I believe the lighter weight causes me to swing to fast and come over the top, I get away with this using driver because of the larger face. An average 3 wood shot for me would be about 180-200 yards. I can hit my 3 hybrid 180-200 yards quite consistently so the 3 wood doesn't get a lot of action.

But taking a clean strike with driver and 3 wood I would say there is about 20 yards difference compared to the driver. Thanks for your comments

I can tell you IMO that the launcher is the way to go. My previous club (now buried in the trunk of my car with good reason) was the Cobra Speed Pro D. Although a different product than the new Cobra you're looking for, I've found the Cobra to hiss less the more you hit it. (Lose pop, not actually make noise) The Launcher is workable, but pending on your swing speed you may want to go with a club such as the Monster by Cleveland since it's more forgiving.

Driver: Cleveland - Launcher Stock Stiff 9.0
Fairway Woods: Callaway - Big Bertha Graffaloy PLBlue S – 3W, 5W, 7W
Irons: PING - ISI-K White Dot +1” long and 2* upright - 5-SW
Wedges: Cleveland - CG12 Black Pearl - 54,58
Putter: Odyssey - White Hot XG Sabretooth
Ball: TaylorMade - TP Black #21

In my Titleist 2014 9.5" Staff bag:

Cobra Bio+ 9* Matrix White Tie X  - Taylormade SLDR 15* ATTAS 80X - Titleist 910H 19* ATTAS 100X - Taylormade '13 TP MC 4-PW PX 6.5 - Vokey TVD M 50* DG TI X100 - Vokey SM4 55 / Vokey SM5 60* DG TI S400 - Piretti Potenza II 365g

After recently hitting all the above clubs I would consider looking at the Adams Speedline. This club is something special without changing my swing what so ever, I was able to produce 5-7 more mph with this club which also resulted in 10-15 yards more carry. Science is a crazy thing and I think Adams found something different. Take a look at it, you will not be disapointed. Good luck.

In my bag:
MP 57's 4-PW KBS Stiff
Ping G 20 10.5* Stiff
Taylormade V Steel 3 and 5 wood

Bridgestone J33 R Hybrid 21* NV Shaft
Mizuno MP Quad Cut 52* and 56* Spinner Shafts

Scotty Cameron Newport Two TeI3

    • With the hot weather……I’ll take a Gatorade please.
    • 60 minutes on the local school playing fields, trying to discover my former grip,I found it and used a lob wedge with which I was able to group 3 balls pretty near together, very happy to have found my old grip and its give me a lot more confidence so I can go have a round of golf with my brother and his step sons,I have not stepped on a course for 20 years, still I can hit my old yardages and that's great as I'm now 62...everybody have a great day
    • I have this issue as well. I play in a bi-weekly league and I generally work on my drills and feels as I'm playing in the league...lol. But to be honest, they really do not affect me in a bad way too much. If anything, my irons are actually more crisp.  The issue comes in when I transition to the woods....so I try to find a happy medium there for the time being. But as far as bad shots go, they are no worse than they were before worrying about drills and what not.  Just speaking for my experience, obviously.
    • Another good episode. I below its a skill to be able to find a functional swing between where you were and where you want to be. I am guilty of trying to do too much on the course instead of just playing.  The goal is to play golf better. Not turn a round of golf into a practice session.
