I have a Callaway golf demo day this saturday and have never been to one before so not quite sure what to expect. How does the process work? Go to the range, get scheduled, pick a few clubs and hit them? Are you limited on how much time you get to hit the clubs? Is there going to be one of their representatives watching you over your shoulder on every hit? Just curious how the whole demo day things works? Thanks.

Good topic. I've never been to a demo day but there's one this Saturday with a bunch of brands showing so I'm pretty excited. I read somewhere you get to hit balls for free?? Not sure and it certainly could vary from place to place but can someone give their experiences on that and Demo days in general?

There is a big demo day in my area every year. There really isn't much too this one though. There are no launch monitors or tour vans. They won't make anything on the spot. There are just the regional salesreps and club pros and each brand has a couple of spots on the range. They have a few bags of demo clubs, drivers, hybrids, fairway wood, irons, you just pick up what you want to hit and go to it. If you have questions there is someone there to ask. It was pretty fun to go to. I was wanting new clubs and I got to try 5 or 6 of the sets I was interested in. The best thing was being able to hit different clubs at the same time. I had one guy just handing me different clubs every couple of shots, so I could get a better feel about what I liked. The only pain can be to get a spot to hit something. Some people take way to long. This year I will go to find a new hybrid.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I recently did a Titleist demo day at my local range. Booked a 30 min slot and decided that I wanted to try fairway woods. Got fitted with a 3 wood in about 20mins so tried a driver after but didn't get on with it. Well worth going as they have loads of different shafts to try and someone that understands the difference between them all.

Just got back from that Callaway demo day and I am VERY impressed. The guys there were laid back (didn't try to push you into anything) and very informative. They helped get me set up with the appropriate shaft flexs etc. and I feel they were spot on with their info. Went in to try hybrids and irons. Didn't quite have the feel I wanted to with the Diablo hybrid but was pretty impressed with the FT hybrid. Tried the x-22 tour irons but they only had regular flex and just wasn't the feel I was looking for. I was very surpirsed with the x-forged irons however. Very solid feeling and workable. Got fitted with the 6.5 project X shafts and loved them. Going to compare some different companies before I buy anything but overall had a great experience.

Do they have multiple lie angles for the same club? If they do, do you just try them or do they have you hit off a board to see which lie angle is best for you?

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

Well I just came back from a Mizuno Demo Day. It was rainy so it was hard to see ball flight but it's a busy range so it was near full capacity anyway. Most people didn't demo. It was basically a guy with a few bags full of clubs. But anyway, I tried the MX-200, MP-52 and the MX-700 Driver.

For the irons I got a regular 6 Iron and a 6 Iron with a 1/2" and 1" extra length shaft (I'm in the 6-1 range so the guy gave me longer ones). The MX-200's were alright...I think I just didn't make good swings, so it's hard to give it a good judgement. As for the MP-52, my first shot went way left and my next one went way right before I got the hang of things. Man does it feel sweet when you make pure contact though!

Anyway, my fave club was the MX-700 driver though. Just crushed a few balls with it

the range at my house had a Mizuno demo day as well. I tried the MX-200, MP-52 and the MP-57. The club head of the MX-200 is too big for my liking, but all I say is "WOW" after hitting the 52 and the 57. The 52 is a lot easier to hit than the 57, and the sound and the feel is just amazing. Now i have to seriously consider getting a set of mizunos.

We went to the Nike Demo Day last week. They had a a few raffles and I won a free Nike Victory wedge and my wife won a $100 gift card which obviously went to me as well. The Golf Gods were smiling on us

Well I just came back from a Nike demo day. The guy basically had two booths at the driving range and a bunch of clubs from Nike's new '09 line. I hit about 20 shots with the Dymo and Dymo2 and well, I liked them and grabbed a brochure. There were also the Str8-Fit drivers, but my game's not to the place where I even bothered hitting them. Pretty good stuff.

Oh yeah he also said that STR8-Fit is probably going to come to fairway woods and hybrids next year and thought it was important to mention that Nike was first to the market with that technology.
