Michigan is cruel

I have three rounds in so far this year. Could have been more, but I only have so many opportunities to get out. 1st round was about 55-60 degrees and sunny, hardly any wind, was sweating on a few holes with the sun out. 2nd round was around 40 degrees, cold, was supposed to hit mid-50's that day and didn't. 3rd round was last week. About 55 or so, but crazy windy. Not freezing, just okay, wind really hurt the scoring.
I woke up today to about 3 inches of wet, heavy snow. Supposed to get 5 to 8 more inches. It is April, right?

absolute bullshit, I couldnt believe it when I woke up today. I feel bad for the people that came to detroit for the final four. Theyll never wanna come back here again unless its in august.

My wife is from Michigan and most of her family still lives there. She is always bugging me to move back there. It's stories like this that keep me saying "HELL NO!."

I feel your pain. The past 2 weeks havent been very good weather for golf. Im just glad that the snowstorm we were supposed to get yesterday went south and we didnt get any snow.
It should be nice this weekend, they are forecasting temps in the mid 50s on Friday and Saturday and 60 degrees and sunny for Sunday.
Hopefully the weather has finally broken and the warm temps are here to stay. I like snow as much as anyone, just not in April.

I also feel your pain. My rounds have been similiar to yours but one day it was around 65 i got out. Today i woke up to 3 inches of snow, but its since melted.

Same deal in NW PA. Played in shorts and short sleeved shirt yesterday...was nice...55-60 easily. Snowing right now....up to 10 inches....

I live in Northern WI, I've been out 5 times this year starting since March 26th. Three of the five times was about 30 degrees with a real feel of 20-25 degrees. All three days I was the only person at the course. The good news is its supposed to get close to 60 this weekend!

I really have no use for winter, I don't ski or snowmobile or ice fish. I guess I live here because I grew up here. I keep saying I'm going to move but...
It's worse since I took up golf on a regular basis. I hate getting teased with a few decent weeks and then BAM!, snow.
It is supposed to warm up to the 50's this week but the courses are going to be so soggy, and this weather keeps them from getting out to spruce up the greens, etc. Come on June!

I was in a similar situation and moved last year... not regretting it at all.

Problem with MI is even if you do ski or snowmobile... you're not doing much of that South of Gaylord or so... therefore, winter is completely useless unless you live up north or want to drive 3-5 hrs each way each weekend. I was a skier and got bored of Pine Knob and Mt. Holly before I turned 18, so I quit skiing in Michigan... Winter in lower MI is just a pain in the a$$... it serves no purpose except to delay nice weather and keep you indoors. I just wish I was rich and retired... then I could live in a warm climate in the winter and probably make the Traverse City area my summer home.

The phenomenal thing is Michigan with its short golf season has some the nicest public courses I’ve ever played. Arcadia Bluffs and the Masterpiece at Treetops are at the top of that list.

I'm from Michigan too. I played about 7 rounds or so so far. I woke up pretty angry because I swore the forecast would be wrong like usual.

Per capita, Michigan has more golf courses than any other state. I would guess it has something to do with golf's transition to a middle-class sport and the fact that the middle class was born out of the auto industry.

Anyway, I love reaping the benefits of all the available courses, at reasonable rates...I just hate the weather. It's warming up again this week. Hopefully, it's here to stay for awhile.

See if you lived farther north you wouldn't of got that snow . I have around 8 or 9 rounds in this year granted a few a have been with snow on a few holes, and there still is some snow on the course where the trees block the sun but that's only one hole. Personally I just wish it would stop being so winding. Today isn't bad almost 50 and sun shine going out in 30 mins.
