Question about mallet putters. I tried a rossa fontana and the itsy bitsy spider. To me, the ball starts rolling forward much sooner than my red x. This could be because the ball jumps off the face of the taylormade agsi insert, therefore I could tap it, even for a long putt as to where the red x requires a little more of a stroke. Anyways, it seems as though my red x causes the ball to skid noticeably at first and then roll.

Any suggestions on a new mallet putter? I like the red x but feel like others may get the ball rolling better. The itsy bitsy is intriguing but so is the cameron fastback as well as some odyssey mallet designs

The best putters to get the ball rolling are supposed to be the grooved Rife and 'C' grooved Yes putters. I tried out the Rife Mr. Beasley and Yes Marilyn mallet putters, both very nice but I decided on an Odyssey white hot XG No.9. I went with the odyssey because of the style more than anything else. The Rife and Yes were both face balanced and didn't really suite my stroke. I must say the Yes putters look beautiful with the carbon finish put on them.
P.S. If you like the Taylormade putters then have a look at the Suzuka model, I liked that one too.

I play an odyssey white hot xg sabertooth, and if I had to do it again I'd either go with the white hot xg teron(similiar look but its more striaght back just a looks thing, looks as if it'd be easier to line up), rife two-bar hybrid mallet
or the YES C-groove sandy.

Yes, the ASGI grooves are designed to improve roll, or to "impart topspin" quicker. But whats weird is I still use a Red X2 and it usually doesn't skid unless the greens are wet. I guess the type of stroke makes a difference as well as the grooves.

You want to add a red x to your collection? haha...

I'd definitely look at the Yes! and Rife putters if you're worried about roll. I use a Rife Antigua and although it's not a mallet the roll is great. I used to use a Yes! Valerie mallet style and would often get comments on the nice roll of my putts but I dropped it because I prefer blade style putters.

I've gotta give some love to the Itsy Bitsy.....

Don't get me wrong, I love my Scotty, but on a whim I just picked up an Itsy Bitsy to try out and just fell in love w/ it! It was kind of weird because I didn't want to like anything Taylor Made, but I just couldn't ignore what this putter was doing for me!

I honestly putt better w/ the Spider than my Scotty.... it's early in the year yet and that might change but it's looking like the Spider will be in my bag most of the year........

at least the Scotty is nice to look at sitting in the living room.....

I can find nothing not to love about the  Olivia that's been in the bag these past few months. I liked it so much that it's bumped my midslant out for a long while.

Aside from the ridiculously easy alignment of the putter....the fact that it does put such a true roll on the ball is super. The softer covered balls really do even better.

Our greens have just been "mini-aerated" and provided some fairly noticiable bumps and skips during today's round. My lag putts really hugged the green and recoverd swiftly from these bumps.
