played 3 rounds so far this year .. been sitting on my arse all winter and i was tired even from riding and playing cart path only.

Signed up for the michigan amateur which is end of may... walking required.

i wanna start walking again, but never gave myself motivation to do so.. used to walk 5 - 7 times a week in high school / college and would always lose about 50 lbs in the summer doing so.

Playing in maybe 4 other tourneys during the summer that I'd like to walk. Always felt I played better when I walked and was more loose.

I've since gained about 50 lbs since i don't anymore.. 6'5" and 320lbs .. struddlin around the golf course. lol.

you sound like you've got a similar build as me - i'm 6'2" and 290. i've lost probably 50 lbs total walking the golf course over the last few years, but it's always a real trial getting myself going again after the winter months. and it's so damned humid here in arkansas that, once i get going in the spring, it's equally hard to keep going in the summer when it's 90 degrees with a 15 degree heat index on top of it.

but any which way, good luck in the tournament!

Just go walking/running in the morning too, walk every 2nd time or something when you play. Just don't make excuses not to walk, there are benches if you really need to sit inbetween holes.
In My Bag:

Driver: G10 9* w/ Aldila NV 65.5
3 Wood: Firesole Bubble Shaft
5 Wood: Firesole Bubble Shaft3-PW: Burner LCGWedges: Goliath 52* and 56*Putter: Callie Forged

Maybe a pushcart may ease the struggle. I feel like I play better walking/carrying even if I get tired.

Can you have a caddy? A friend of mine plays in some Missouri amateur events and I will caddy for him if I am available.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Good luck! Check your golf shoes if they are a little old, as it may do your feet and ankles some good to get some new shoes beforehand. Perhaps play a round or two walking with the new shoes to break them in before the tournament.

Be sure to sit down every other hole for a few minutes if you aren't used to walking long distances in a while. That will give your legs and feet a break and help prevent excessive blistering and soreness.

2011 Goals:
* Improve club-head speed to 90 mph with the driver
* Ensure increased speed does not compromise accuracy
* Prevent overextending on the back-swing (left-arm is bending too much at the top)
* Relax arms initially at address ( too tense)* Play more full rounds (failed from 2010)

I joking tell people my name is George Patton and I'm fighting the Battle of the Bulge. Seriously I am down 30 pounds (winter rate) from 5 years ago. I hope to add 5 more pounds by walking this summer. This will get me down to around 210 for next winter. Ultimate goal is get under 200 and stay there. Walking the courses and watching what I eat works for me.

Good luck this summer. I will try to make a couple of the tournaments.

Good points. Try some 100% acrylic socks too. Don't use cotton or cotton blends as they get saturated and make your feet even softer and more prone to blistering and damage. It would not hurt to change them at the turn either; it will feel like you just got a second wind.
