Ah yes the much debated twosome of golf! Well I wanna know what you guys think. If you want to, tell me why below but casting a vote is just fine. Personally I love Tiger and think that Phil is overrated but that doesn't mean I think Phil can't play the game. VERY FAR FROM IT. If you're playing on the PGA tour you are good. End of discussion.

Tiger because he's actually God reincarnate and has that commandment "Have no other gods before me." Sorry Phil

But in all seriousness, Tiger. He's the one who got me into golf and I always love watching him play. I was upset at CBS/Masters third round coverage because it began after Tiger's round was over

I think I will go for Tiger. Phil plays awesome, but I can watch Tiger's swing over and over again... as long as a micrphone is near to hear the impact xD.

I've seen both in person at a number of tournaments. My feeling from Phil is that his ego gets in the way of his personality. (seems to be full of himself once in a while). where as, I have seen Tiger chatting with people and seems like an ordinary guy. Don't get me wrong, Phil is for the most part is an alright guy, there are many other ego's on tour that are much worse.

Phil was, still is, and will always be my favorite golfer. It's so stupid to see Tiger get mad and throw his clubs. He's almost a billionaire for crying out loud.

What you said can't make my argument for Tiger any better. Almost a billionaire and still gets fired up over mistakes he makes on the course. While I think he could tone down the language a bit at times it's nice to see how much it means to him to win. I like Phil and his go for it attitude but he could use some of Tiger's fire.

Tiger is the is clearly the better player, by a mile. Phil is probably a better ballstriker and a more natually gifted golfer. If this is a question of who i like because he is the superior player , then i definatly go with tiger. The results are not even in the same league.

I have to disagree with the natural talent part. I don't think you can get much more natural talent then watching your dad hit when you're less than 2 and then picking up a club and hitting it up in the air for the first time.

Yeah, if Phil had a little more fire he'd be up there more often, but I hate to see people throw clubs and yell. It just hurts the game.

tiger is my all time favorite player. grew up watching him, really love his swing, and he has influence alot of the way i play the game. right now though i prefer phils loose disposition and really really like the way hes playing. overall i think tiger has the better mechanics, swing, winning ability, and mental game, but phil is playing way better right now and he has a much better attitude in my opinion

my earliest memory of golf is actually of phil. as a kid i was always fascinated with left hand people. being right handed i always envied left handed people because i always felt that left handed golfers or baseball players just looked more fluid. i don't know, i was weird. that being said...

Tiger.

Sure he can. I think guys like phil and sergio can hit a golf ball better than Tiger. Phil can execute shots nobody else can. But in terms of the total game and the mental mastery of it, they cant even smell Mr Woods.

Tiger. Tiger is a machine. He pulls off shots that seem impossible and do does all while under pressure.
While Phil does make those same kind of shots from time to time, you never know which Phil is going to show up on any given day: the Phil with the awesome ballstriking and brilliant short game or the Phil that takes too many risks and couldnt hit a fairway if his life depended on it.

I'm with you. These are the 2 best golfers of our generation but for different reasons. Tiger = Great all around game, no real weaknesses on top of, perhaps, the strongest mental game ever. Phil = flashes of brillance and unmatched imagination and a risk taker who isn't afraid to accept the consequences of taking those risks. I'm looking forward to watching them battle for years to come.

Phil's my favorite of the 2, aside from being a Mike Weir fan, they're pretty much the reason i watch golf.. wash out a win here and there from other players, but they're both on a different level then any other PGA golfer IMO. Sure Phil can do a few things with a golf ball that tiger probably cant, but Tiger is just really good at everything almost all the time. There's no comparison.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
