I have it, I really like it, I do believe that is a great club. I don't know if I'll change it for the 909D2, because the 905R is a great club.

This might cause some quarreling, but, IMHO, the 905R is the best driver Titleist has ever made and possibly one of the best all around driver's ever produced.

Id *almost* have to agree with you. I liked the 909 a bit better but if i had been on a buget i would have gone w/ the 905r.

If I didn't have 2 new drivers sitting in my room, I would be very tempted to buy this for cheap on eBay to mess around with.

I would have to agree that it is a great driver! I managed to grab one on ebay for £60 ($85) with a UST shaft and it is great, wouldnt even consider paying £250 for a new driver when ive got it!!

titleist man .....

Do you have a fast swing speed? I was wondering as to your Diamana shafts

I am findinig the Xcon pretty lite, so i am researching others...I swing smooth (about 87-91) with a driver

Agree 100%. I like updating my gear every 2 years, but I don't change a club if I absolutely love it. The 907 series did not work for me at all. I hit all three 909 drivers, and they are pretty good drivers, but not worth $500-$600 (after shaft upgrades). The 905R is still in my bag because I have worn it in and love it. I can maybe (MAYBE) add 5-10 yards with the newer selections, but I don't want to learn how to hit a different wrench. If you can get a 905 used for $150 in good condition, jump on it.

I recently upgraded to the 905R from the 975J and I've never been happier with a driver.

If I was not on a budget I'd be all over a 909D3, but I don't think the difference between them is that great that warrants spending another $400-500 to upgrade. I can wait it out and pick up a used one after Titleist comes out with their next "must have" driver, and save at least 50%. Case in point, 905R with Proforce V2 shaft in excellent condition -- $80.

Looks like it. Doesn't look like 907 D2's are that much more than the 905r's right now.

Glad to see the positive opinions in this thread. After reading the good review of it on the main site and elsewhere on the web I decided to buy a used 905R with the UST Proforce V2.

Haven't been able to hit one because finding that club in a lefty 9.5* with a V2 65 regular flex shaft from Titleist has been quite the Easter egg hunt...

I've seen the 905R going from $75-$100 depending on the condition and the shaft. If that's the "real" shaft that they up-charge for I think that's in-line with what you'd expect (I believe some of them were the "made for Titleist" kind but I'm not sure). I paid $94 but like I said I didn't have many chances to find exactly what I was looking for so I couldn't really shop/wait around for a price.

    • Day 283 - 2025-07-10 Got some work in while waiting for someone to show up for a GEARS lesson (they did not, and haven't reached out in 24 hours, so I'm getting a bit worried). Also recorded a video for @saevel25.
    • I agree. Personally, I've been watching the LPGA for a couple decades. My wife and I attended the US Women's Open in Edina, MN way back in 2008.  Two comments:  1 - I also enjoy another women's sport; Softball. The College Softball World Series is a big event in our household. Interestingly, my niece plays softball and my nephew plays baseball. Often we go watch them both play the same weekend. Both games will have the same start time. I have to say I enjoy the softball more than the baseball. The women are on a 20 second pitch clock. Yeah, you read that right 20 seconds. Plus, the players stand in the dugout the entire game and sing and/or chant stuff the whole time. Tons of energy. The game moves along at a fast pace. We often watch my niece's entire game and then go over to watch my nephew and they are in the 3rd inning. The baseball seems to move at a crawl after coming over from the softball game.  2 - My daughter and I have taken to watching the youtube channel "The Golf Girl Games". Great content. Very entertaining. If you haven't watched them yet, I recommend them.
    • It's not too far off, Scott. You can probably let the arms go up earlier in the backswing so the change of direction isn't quite so dramatic.

    • I haven’t really filmed in a while. Starting to feel like my body is close to being at full strength again, but I am also 65! I played a few round and my distance is down as expected. Here are a 6 iron and driver swing. My grip is a bit weak in these so I’ve focused on that the last few days. I went over my Erie notes. I’m trying to swing down from the top and not out. I want my weight to start shifting forward at about P3. And I want to push my left hip back in the downswing, which I was not successful in these swings. Ball flight has been pushes or pull draws with the irons and fades with the driver. Looking at these swings I can see why. I just need to change the picture.
