i'll find a wedge that doesn't rust...sorry but going into the sand to clean my wedge is kind of a rediculous solution...lol...i don't WANT to go in sand

You never practice sand shots? Thats all it would take to knock the rust off your wedges.

Thats why I prefer chrome wedges. I like the protective finish. Sure, they will start to rust eventually but nowhere near as soon as would raw or oilcan finish wedges.

y practice if you hardly ever end up in them? ;)...i can honestly say in the last 5 rounds i have been in the sand once...and was out and within two feet of the hole...sand shots aren't an issue for me, i don't want to practice being in them or have a need to...not being egotistical or whatnot but if you played with me, you'd understand. Thanks for the idea tho...i'll use the one that's rusting for practice in the sand...otherwise i'll use the good ones on the course

Are there any ways to prevent rust?

And if the wedge does end up rusting, soak it in Coke and then rub with the rough side of a sponge. Nice and clean

I don't care for chrome much, I've always seemed to play darker, rustier wedges to minimize glare, and I just really like the way they frame ball around the green, especially those Gunmetal Cleveland wedges, man they were the best.

Ya know, I like the darker look too. I wonder were/are there any manufacturers who make entire iron sets using the gunmetal, or raw finishes? I think I'd buy a set.

Source: Mizuno Forged heads are made of mild carbon steel that is chrome plated. Once you start hitting golf balls, you scratch the surface of the chrome and eventually expose the raw steel to moisture, and chemicals that can cause rust to form. The best way to minimize rust is to keep the irons dry at all times, wipe them after every shot and at the end of the round with a dry cloth. When cleaning, use only a NYLON brush (no metal) and dry them with a dry towel. If you get some rust forming, spray the surface with WD-40, clean with a soft nylon brush or Scotchbrite pad and wipe them clean with a dry cloth. Some high nitrogen fertilizers, sandy soil conditions and water with high iron content can accelerate the production of rust. The use of iron head covers is not recommended as they trap moisture and accelerate the production of rust.
