there's a whole forum that lists various books and users reviews of said books. *points upwards at reading room*

but while i'm here, i'd say ben hogan's five fundamentals is my personal recommendation.

If you are a visual guy watching videos on You Tube also helps. sometime a picture or video is worth a thousand words.

As a beginner you need to focus on the basic fundamentals. I do not think you can go wrong with Jack Nichlaus' book "Golf My Way" and Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf". There are lots of books on the subject, but these 2 keep it simple and do not get into specific teaching philosophies much, but rather stick to the basics and present them in such a way a new golfer can understand. A lot of books start to conflict with one another in what they say and how they say it.

Stan Utley's two books are a great start.

As for full swing, see a teaching professional for a lesson or two. It will save you time and frustration. Get a passable full swing and then apply what you're learning in the Utley books.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

The PGA Manual of Golf is the perfect book for a beginning golfer. It has a little history, etiquette & instruction all in one book. I feel that etiquette is the first thing a new golfer should learn.

    • Continuing to show his immaturity....going back to the playoffs where he damaged the green when he slammed his putter into it.   And just from yesterday, yelling at a players back when SS was getting ready to putt, and then walking off the green to the next tee box 60 yards away before US team putted.    I know him and SS are good buds but still.    Also not helping that he's blaming the Canadian fans for the International teams' poor performance thus far. I know he is young but he needs to grow up.
