It feels like I've been working on my swing since i've started golf. I've never really settled into my swing, I am always looking for something closer to ideal. I feel like I'm getting very close to some of my best ball striking yet... I am an experienced golfer, but I am striving to be a scratch. I am playing a set of corba tour II os

I played well last week, I was taking a short swing. Putting the ball in the fairway, but still only making about 20% gir....I feel I launch my irons too high. I know that my arms come through too quickly. I swing on a good plane, but I have recently also had problems with my setup. On the range, if i try to get a handle on my arms and lean into the ball to get the trajectory I want, I will spray the ball far right. When I struck one well trying this, it would typically draw, and sometimes get into a sweeping draw. I normally play a draw, but it can sometimes turn hook, and it still feels very solid.

I'm not positive if my hands are open, or if it is a problem with my distance to the ball in setup. I think my tempo may also be a mess. Overall I would like to get this type of low trajectory straight flight swing down..lol (wouldn't everyone).. but does anyone have any tips off of the information given?

it sounds like you are a good golfer that simple needs to review the fundamental golf swing to check your set up and positions and a slight adjustment here and there is all you need.

I watch this video when I need to check my fundamentals and maybe it might help you.

Pretty good straight forward video. I took some swings with a weighted club trying to mute some of my thoughts. It's really difficult without any real feedback, however. I am thinking about hitting the range again to see if I can iron something out. Anymore suggestions are welcome!

One thought. Found an item on the Purepoint Golf site. They sell some great instructional dvds. I got the putting and short game videos last week. Ordering the ten dvd set soon. Good info for a hacker like me. Anyway, for tempo, one product they sell is a metronome. Below is a link...

another link with videos that I found helpful below:

If you can use one or two things from the videos that helps your game at least something to consider and try and see if it works for your game.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Haven't made it to the range, we had lightning here today. But I think I need to keep my arms closer to my torso. It forces a more upright stance, and gives me consistency through impact. It also allows me to clear my hips. This is all speculation, since I dont have any real feedback from a golfball yet...lol. It feels good though, and also like something I can groove pretty consistently. I cant wait to try it tomorrow, along with the new putter.!

    • Day 21, May 25.  Hit "the whole bucket" as practice today after reviewing my Skillest lesson.  I think something crept into my swing last week that wasn't in the lesson, so I went back to the lesson and renewed my focus.  Each ball was a minute or so, 2-3 slow rehearsal backswings and checking the mirror for how far back I was going. "The whole bucket" means every ball I have in the bin at my indoor practice room;  I counted when I put them back, that's six dozen plus six total.  That is probably more full swings than I took over the weekend (excluding range warm-ups) in two rounds!  But these were all with a 6-iron.
    • Day 265 5-25 Hit some balls just to see where i was, no "thoughts' except getting arms in front. Did some recording where i focused on getting chest through and arms in front.
    • Day 76 (25 May 26) - Broke out the "vintage" clubs (MacGregor blades, Wilson 4150 laminates) to work with clubs that are much less forgiving.  Worked through the bag using hard foam balls for the full swings, regular balls for the chips and pitches.  Found it to be a more focused session on making consistent contact.
    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
