So when I post my score and it comes up it has several catergories.

Type Date Score CR Slope Diff. Course Name
I 5-6-09 68 56.3 091 14.5 Legacy Golf Links

Now I understand what all the categories are except the Diff. category.. Can someone explain please???

I believe that's your course index (that goes into computing your actual handicap).

Yeah, it's your differential for that round. Average of your 10 best of your last 20 differentials (* 0.96) is your handicap index.

On top of what Iacas said, the 'Diff' helps you determine how well you played at a particular course compared to your handicap. It's nice when playing at difference courses. If it's lower than your handicap, then you played better even if you scored worse.

Your differential for the round is calculated by subtracting the course rating for the tees that you played from your score and multiplying it by 113 divided by the slope.

Diff = (score - course rating) x 113/slope.

As iacas mentioned, the 10 lowest differentials of your last 20 rounds are then averaged and multiplied by 96% to determine your current handicap index.
