so i just got my new R9 i've been patiently waiting on for over a week now, and what did i do before i even got a chance to swing it? that's right, i somehow managed to strip the screw while adjusting the loft/lie by removing the head from the shaft. as i was screwing it back down, i was waiting for the "click," but instead it got really tight, and the next thing i new, it stripped. anyone else managed to do this or heard of it happening to anyone else??

Are you sure it's stripped? It just comes twists freely now?

If you've never used the TM wrenches, they work like other torque wrenches. I think "click" is a bad way to describe it (but can't think of anything better). It gets real tight and then BAM, slips a quarter turn or whatever when it reaches its measured max torque load.

I think by stripped he means, the slot on top of the screw for the wrench has changed dimensions, so that the wrench won't bite anymore and won't turn the screw.

Could be. Seems we'll never know as he hasn't bothered to post again.

Yeah but can you buy the replacement screw? If you can then your idea sounds fine, if not though, it's hard to swing a driver with a screw driver at the end.

Yeah, I imagine that isn't going to be improving the forgiveness of the driver.

I assume if you contact TM they will send you a pile of screws for free... but then again I'm used to Callaway customer service.

If they won't give replacement screws or, worse, they charge for them... well, lol.

I havent had this problem yet, but i rarely change the setting and if I need it changed thats what the Taylormade fitters are for. I have played a little bit with it and you just dont want to over tighten it and the screws should be fine.

The same exactly happened to me. I was following instructions on utube and it said to twist until you hear the click!! The only click I heard was the bolt breaking!! Im off to a Taylor Made dealer tonight to see what they can do. Does anyone else feel an obvisous click when tightening the bolt and secured in position?

I haven't had a problem and I've changed the settings many many times. The click you'll hear is quite loud... you'll know it when you hear it.

On each occasion I changed the set-up and tightened the bolt it did not click!! On the final attempt I over tightened waiting for the click and instead heard the crack!! Either it's either a faulty club or counterfit!! Not happy after waiting for my new purchase to arrive. I presume the bolt will have to drilled out of the shaft and order a new bolt from Taylor Made? Can spare bolts be obatined from TAylor Made? Does the click sound apply to all R9 driver models?

I don't know if this is off topic or not but I have a Taylor made screw question.

I acquired an older R7 quad driver that has the 4 screws. I want to set it for my nephew who is fighting a slice. If I remember right, two screws are gold and two are red, (it's not in front of me right now) Anyway my question is this:

Where do I position the screws for the best slice-fighting setup?

Put the heavy ones in the heel. Now, back to topic...

Have just got back from my local golf shop, only for them to tell me they believe the club is counterfit!! There are few variances to other R9's in the store i.e the FCT logo on the head cover should be plastic (mine is sewn on with material). On the shaft R9 is lightly imprinted on the grey section (on mine the R9 letters is hardly visible). The tool is heavy (mine is feather light and grey in colour). FCT letters on end of grip (mine has no FCT letters). How do these findings compare to your R9? I have left the serial number with the store and they are contacting TM in the morning to check authenticity. By the way I managed to get the stripped screw out of the shaft, and guy in the golf store said I would struggle to get a replacement screw. Any ideas?

I have the R9 Supertri and a 3 and 5 wood in the R9, when I tighten the driver, I hear the click and all is well, When I tightened the 3 and 5 wood, the screw just kept tightening until the screw snapped, this has happened to me several times with the fairway woods, luckily I can get the screw out with a vise, I ordered more screws because I never know when the fairway woods are tight, they never click, I just have to guess or the screw breaks, is this a common problem?? I used the wrench that came with the 3 wood when it breaks
